There are three beautiful en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor - the first with a double bed, the second with twin beds and the third with a queen-size bed (each bedroom has a private entrance from the front porch). Kindly note that the flatlet in the attic remains vacant at all times, and is not rented out. The living area inside the house is spacious, with a large open-plan kitchen and living/dining room area with wood-burning fireplace, a flat-screen TV with selected ("Family package") DStv channels, and Wi-Fi. The kitchen area boasts fabulous mountain views and there is also a washing machine and dishwasher for your comfort - a must if the kids have tagged along with you. Kindly remember to bring along your own washing detergent, dishwasher tablets, filter coffee and paper filters for the coffee machine.
A full-length patio at the front of the house sets the scene for chardonnay and crayfish at the end of a tough day on the beach, while to the back of the house, in the lee of the mountain and protected from those Atlantic gusts, there is a barbeque area featuring a cold-water jacuzzi (unfortunately it can not be heated). A double garage is available to keep vehicles safe and secure, and you’ll also have a panic button on the remote (attached to the house keys), which is linked to SafeSecurity (a 24-hour armed response unit). So you can rest assured.
Stony Point African Penguin Colony, home to one of the largest successful breeding colonies of African Penguin in the world, is a mere 2.9 kilometers down the road, and Harold Porter National Botanical Garden is 3.6 kilometers away. There are some good hikes and walking trails in the surrounding mountains and fynbos, with the beach 1.9 kilometers down the road and various eateries and pubs littered up and down the immediate coastline. Set in open fynbos at the foot of the Kogelberg in Betty’s Bay, you have plenty in the way of open space and views towards the ocean.

18 guests' feedbackBreathtaking view of the sea, towering below and the mountain here against you. Comfortable accommodation, striking black and white decor, throughout. Sufficient bathroom facilities and lovely lounging areas, inside and outside. The children were lost in the fairytale garden, adults delighted in the fynbos and birdlife.
Thank you so much for the lovely stay.
It was very nice. Would recommend to anyone looking for a getaway.
Me and my 5 girlfriends enjoyed the time and it was very special with the warmth that was inside the house. We all slept through on arrival. Felt like royalty.
Had a wonderful stay. Very spacious. A bit on the old fashioned side but everything is functional. Needs a bit of an upgrade.
The perfect setting for a weekend away in Betty's Bay. Centrally located, so we could go out and explore during the day. Evenings were spent enjoying the lovely braai area surrounded by nature and the sounds of the local wildlife.
The kitchen area was very well equipped. Lovely braai area at the back with a braai grid provided. Will definitely stay there again. Tanya was lovely and always available.
Booking and administration with the webpage once again were easy and efficient. Mountain Mist was excellent value for money, and really well equipped. The kids and the grandparents loved it tremendously and we would happily come back. A tip for guests, when checking in, go straight back around the house and access premises via the kitchen, makes it quick and simple.
We and our friends really enjoyed the stay. It is a beautiful house by anyone's standard, it sits on the lower slopes of an imposing mountain range looking out over the ocean not that far away. We enjoyed the fireplace and the kitchen and living area which is quite cosy in the winter once you have a fire going. I liked that it's in a cul de sac where my boy could ride his bike and I especially enjoyed it facing up to the abundant fynbos on most sides. No complaints from my side.
We did have good weekend.
If you are looking for a nice and cosy place to relax and enjoy with your family Mountain Mist is the place to go.
Amazing views, area and nature. This was our second time at Mountain Mist. It was to cold for the Jacuzzi but nice and warm weather. Close to the mountain and other activities.
See stars.
Volledig toe geruste kombuis, baie goeie beddens, skoon badkamers.
See star rating.
We experienced the place as neat and well furnished. There is a nice view. We stayed there during a big storm, so unfortunately didn't have an opportunity to use the braai. The fireplace works very well though! We will definitely want to go again.
