The apartment was clean, tidy and well equipped. The beautiful gardens create a relaxed atmosphere. Furthermore, the DStv, with all the channels, is a plus. The owner and staff are always friendly and willing to help.
The purpose of my trip was to visit a family member at Amber Valley Frail Care. Nutmeg is ideally positioned for the Ambers, shops and restaurants.
Ideally situated for swimmers doing the Midmar Mile. The host let me shower after my event for a slightly later 'check out' which I really appreciated.
We enjoyed Howick and the cottage was tastefully decorated.
The breakfast was good and the rooms were nice. Need more kitchen plates, cups, glasses, and utensils.
Not all the rooms look like the picture advertised. The room our friends stayed in needs an upgrade. We also had to ask for toilet paper every morning which was a bit annoying. The toilet paper was also extremely poor quality, after the second day we instead bought our own to use. The service was friendly. What did confuse us was that on arrival we were told that breakfast was an extra R90 pp, maybe we misunderstood, but we were under the impression on booking that it was included in the price of the room, but about the overall it wasn't bad value for money.
Free WiFi, streaming television and shower head that works decently,. Maybe a bottle of water in the fridge? Never know if you can drink the tap water.

The reception was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bathroom was very neat, but the kitchenware was very limited. No longevity milk, just Cremora. Communal gas stove outside the rooms, but no matches in the room. Less value for money compared to other places we have stayed elsewhere in the country at a similar price.

Could be furnished with better quality furniture. Load shedding no provision for power told we have a generator but only activate at 21h00. Too late for elderly.
Satisfied our need for a comfortable overnight stay. Friendly host and wife. Was able to check in until 9pm. Lovely bed and clean linen. Bathroom will be very neat for some guests. Had to leave early and couldn't eat breakfast, but the breakfast tables were nicely set.

The impression created in the photos is that it is an old English Manor House. Meanwhile, it compares well with a cheap old boarding house. The cutlery is odd and completely inadequate to pass as self-catering. I could barely heat up my takeaway and washed all the utensils before eating from them. Not recommended at all for a good night's sleep.

As a self-catering party, we took extra food preparing utensils with. The food preparing utensils supplied by the guest house was very limited for self-catering. Notwithstanding this, we really enjoyed the stay as well as our food preparation on the amazing SMEG gas stove. Thank you, we'll be back!!

We enjoyed staying at Nutmeg as it is set in a big peaceful garden. Our 4 bed suite was spacious. Close to shops and restaurants.

Lovely, peaceful place. We had enough space. Friendly staff and owner lady. Lovely breakfast! A bit tricky to get out of the allocated parking spaces if other bigger cars are all parked there. Suggestions: Real milk in pyramids (e.g. Parmalat) will be welcome in addition as not everyone loves Cremora. Air freshener in the bathroom wasn't supplied. Staff should also clean the sunken in areas of the shower door frame, but all the rest was nice and clean. Only one coffee mug - more are needed. But overall, we appreciated the quiet surroundings, comfortable beds and good looking furniture.
Unfortunately, location of guest house in noisy environment (neighbours and traffic) is to its disadvantage. Furthermore, accommodation was very pleasant.

This accommodation is in the town of Howick and easy to find. It is clean and the owner is very helpful. Value for money.
It's not fancy or impressive, but it's value for money. Reception and accommodation: Very friendly, comfortable and pleasant. Breakfast the next morning: Delicious and value for money! Dinner in 'The Black Olive' (so recommended by the guest house): Definitely worth it! Location: Easy to get to from the N3. Recommendations: (1) The coffee mugs and glasses, of different sizes, which do not fit together, definitely need an upgrade. (2) Two of our towels were in a particularly battered condition and need to be replaced. (3) One senior member of our company walks with a 'roller'. Although there was a path for him, the path's gate was locked after dinner and we couldn't get the lock at reception, which was already locked by then.
We were 3 people who booked a self-catering unit for 3-5. Breakfast is extra, but you'll pay more for less food in town. Other guests were also very friendly. In summertime the swimming pool will be great. Self-catering for light meals with a fridge and basin, but it's no hotel kitchen. It's perfect for people on business in town. The warm water is really warm and there's proper shower facilities. Not the type of shower you have to run around in to get wet.

Door handle remains in your hand after you have closed the door - room 2. Already fixed with silicon. The non-matching crockery isn't pretty. We are alos in the hospitality industry and it will do a lot to get uniform crockery. Two plates different types and sizes. Old, hard towels. Linen and mattress same story. The place is quiet old. We stayed two nights and it was fine. No complaints about friendly owner. I didn't like the fact that the staff entered our room everytime we left. I booby-trapped the closet door to know if they opened it, no reason for it, they should tell the staff to not snoop around in the guests' stuff. There was nothing to do late afternoon after we lefte for the wedding, so they went into our room and arranged my shoes. Why? I've got a good mind to stick a piece of paper on the door instructing them to stay out, because it wasn't necessary. Just befor we left they asked us what we wanted to drink, we requested coffee and sugar since there weren't any tea. There never was any tea but it didn't bother me because I don't take my tea with powdered milk, but I also don't drink coffee. They brought the basket and we had to help ourselved and then they still entered the room when we left. Why? I didn't appreciate it at all. Next time I will bring my own lock so they can respect my privacy. Thanks.
The guest house is in a beautiful large yard with lovely trees. Neat rooms. Very friendly host. We did not use the breakfast but the restaurant looks very neat and beautiful.
