The farmhouse features 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a guest bathroom. The main bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower. The second bedroom has a double bed and the 2 other bedrooms have 2 single beds each. These rooms share a bathroom equipped with a shower and a bath. There is a separate guest toilet.
The farmhouse offers a large separate kitchen, 2 lounges and 2 fireplaces. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and contains a gas stove, an oven, a fridge-freezer, a microwave, cutlery and crockery. The lounge areas feature comfortable couches, a dining table with ample seating, a TV, and free Wi-Fi is available.
Outside features a sunny patio with a seating area, a fenced garden and beautiful views of the outstretched green lands. There are braai facilities available, and firewood is supplied but guests are required to bring along their own charcoal. Ample parking is available on the premises.
Guests are welcome to wander in the natural fields which are home to Oribi, Reedbuck, Duiker as well as nocturnal Aardvarks, Brown hyenas and Porcupines. The farm has an abundance of birds visiting with 28 pairs of Blue cranes and 12 pairs of Crested cranes being previously counted on the pastures. There is a small dam on Oakvlei in front of the house that has bass in it if guests would like to fish. There are 3 catchment dams and 2 holding dams that are stocked with bass on Niekerksfontein Farm which is approximately 4 km from Oakvlei. The top catchment dam is stocked with trout so guests are more than welcome to bring along their own rod. For the more adventurous and energetic there are some good mountain bike rides and a more strenuous hike through the gorge up to the small waterfall during the rainy season. Milking and calf feeding take place twice a day.

10 guests' feedbackOh my goodness - everything was perfect! The gorgeous farmhouse is equipped with everything and more. Carol is the most wonderful hostess and communicated so well. She even checked up on us travelling to ensure we were en route safely. Our two dogs had the weekend of their lives and swam and swam in the well-stocked dam. Fishing has actually been rephrased to 'catching' for the first time in our lives! We will be back for sure. A million thank yous!
What an amazing long weekend away, we all had fun, the adults, kids and the fur babies. The farm house is magnificent, and so comfortable with everything we needed. Carol was great - she is an incredible host. We will most certainly be back and can't wait for our next visit!
This was our second year at Oakvlei and we will definitely be back.
Loved our brief stay. The house has everything you would need for a very comfortable break away from the city. It was cold but the fireplaces made our room and the living areas warm and cosy!
Oakvlei is a true gem. Everything you could possibly ask for is there. The house is superbly furnished and equipped. Carol, Chriszaan, and Rory make you feel so at home. The dogs just love the enormous fully fenced garden to play. And once let loose in the pastures they can run for miles in a safe environment. The photos don't do the place justice. This is truly an exceptional stay in the Midlands. We will definitely be back.
We had a lovely restful time. Anything you need for a peaceful time away is on site. The owners/staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We will definitely plan to go back.
Quiet, beautiful home. Staff friendly and helpful. Zack, the Jack Russel, was the highlight of our visit. Will definitely return.
Location was just far enough. We found more than that what we were expecting due to previous experiences at other venues, so thank you for this experience. The dogs loved the time too. The space was excellent and the fireplaces in the family room and the main bedroom was wow. The kitchen facilities was fantastic and the generator, what a value add.
Couldn't have asked for better.
Ideal for a group that wants to hang out and relax together. We had a wonderful time.
