Very nice stay! Will now be our overnight stop in Beaufort West.
Nice place to park car and villa was nice and private.
The staff were super helpful and friendly, and the lamb shank was delicious! Even though we arrived quite late and had to leave very early, we really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful gardens. The room was excellent.
Had a wonderful stay. Neat and comfortable.
Upon arrival we were met by Patricia. Patricia made sure we felt comfortable and showed us around. We had a very lovely room. The dinner was delicious, as was breakfast. Lorraine cooks wonderfully. Just the swimming pool was not operational, luckily it was not a hot day.
Room was neat and clean, can definitely strongly recommend the lambshank (tastiest lambshank I have ever eaten). Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, went out of their way to make sure we were happy.
Friendly service. Michelle they made us feel right at home.
The dinner was special. Traditional lamb shank with broad beans and pumpkin cookies.
Safe environment and staff very friendly and helpful.
Just very noisy road especially if you are a light sleeper - they did provide earplugs. Food was phenomenal.
Rooms are very neat and the food is delicious will definitely recommend - service is also very friendly
It's an old world atmosphere that was wonderfully peaceful.
We were tired from the road. You can't do anything about the water restrictions and the load shedding, you have to take it as it comes. We just wanted a place to sleep in Beaufort and then we got a beautiful room and a great night's rest. I will definitely recommend this place.
Beautiful and pleasant. Food is delicious and service is excellent.
Had a great night's rest. Dinner was so good.
Very good service. Rooms clean and tidy.
Very nice food served in the room.
The only negative part was the mosquitoes in the room and the road noise. A can of Doom will address the first problem and the noise is much more acceptable when one turns on the air conditioner.
See stars.
All in all, but I think it's necessary for a 4 star stay to mention that the Luxury Room is on the street and you can't open the windows. There is only aircon and not fresh air. And also the noise of cars. The word 'Luxury' creates an expectation that it does not live up to. They should also replace the plastic of the single mattress trays with actual bed covers made for children who can spill - it's not 4 star - it's camp style. The plastic makes a noise when the children roll around in the bed and it bothered everyone's night rest. Breakfast wasn't great either and we couldn't make toast because it is 'home made bread'. The tables we found were very small and struggled to work with 4 people between cupcakes and mugs, glasses and milk cups, and then there were bigger tables, but there were two people. Maybe they can 'reserve' big tables for larger bookings.
Baie vriendelik ontvang . Kossies was heerlik.
We really enjoyed the stay! I would have given it a full five points, but the traffic got in the way a bit - it's now in the room where we spent the night. Deeper in one would probably hardly have been aware of traffic. I would like to mention the name of Barbara, because of her professional and caring service!
Luxury room was not at all as luxurious as expected and described on the website. Toilet smelled bad, DStv connection was down, towels were old and weathered, food was substandard and parking unsafe. Not worth the fare.
Beautiful guest house, just a shame the management is not up to a good standard. We booked a deluxe room and paid in full in advance. We are put in a deluxe room which is much smaller without any explanation. I had to walk to reception and take it up with the lady. Her explanation then is that there is no water on 1 side of the house. Unacceptable for a guesthouse of its size. Furthermore, I asked her if I could get a credit since the room I'm in now is clearly cheaper. She undertook to put the credit on my account. There was load shedding from 8.30 to 10.30 with no generator, it was 32 degrees and our windows couldn't open. We ordered a dinner which was very unappetizing for R 140 p.p. The chicken pie was so dry and had no taste. When we left the next morning, als was closed and no one in sight. This after I had arranged with them that I wanted to leave promptly at 6:30. The receptionist arrived at 7 and when I went to check out she gave me a bill of R 380. I questioned it and was told it was the meals, drinks and mini fridge refreshments. When I asked what about the credit she said I had no credit and that I misunderstood her. I told her you clearly told me last night that the current room is cheaper than the one I booked. What did I misunderstand? She just ignored me and told me to take it up with her manager who doesn't work weekends! We didn't have a good night, the road next to the room is noisy and you can hear the trucks all night. This is not what I was looking forward to after a long journey!
Beautiful place with very friendly staff and comfortable rooms! Perfect for relaxing after a long day on the road! Will definitely stay here again!
It is a beautiful institution. Luxurious, comfortable, professional and attuned to guests' needs. Everything was provided, even swimming towels. We could just kick off our shoes and really relax. Good quality linen and towels. The perfect place to spend more than just one night. Great service.
Neat and clean accommodation.
We were received with so much hospitality, we had a delicious meal in the restaurant with delicious food and wine, great service, a comfortable bed after our long journey and were sent off with a breakfast pack for the long road that still awaited us. Absolutely excellent and we will definitely come and stay again.
It was the bed best we've ever slept on. The people are hospitable and the breakfast was fresh and unbelievably delicious.
I fully enjoyed my stay and the service was excellent. I'm going to make Old House my home away from home. The food was wonderful. The room was excellent and so clean and comfortable. I love my tea and I loved the fact that I had enough milk and sugar to drink as much as I wanted to without having to ask for more. My car was full of valuable stuff and it was safe. Parking was adequate for all guests.

Thank you, it was pleasant, comfortable with good food and in a nice old house that was well looked after with modern facilities. Will stay over again.
After a long journey it is wonderful to relax in such a place, good food and friendly service. Thank you very much!
Very nice, clean and tidy. Dinner was delicious.
The aircon was not in any working condition and we tried opening the only window in the room with no luck. Woke up sweaty.
Loved the stay at your property. Highly recommended.
The stay was great, and clean. The room near the road was just a bit noisy - did not enjoy that very much. But apart from that it was lovely and beautiful, and the service was great!
We stayed in a garden cottage, which has ample room and was very neat and well organised. We loved the big double shower and slipper bath, and extra points for the heated towel rails. Those surely come in handy in the cold Karoo winters. The breakfast was on time and well presented, and the staff were friendly, efficient and happy to assist with any request. All in all, a great experience. The one complaint is that the WiFi could not connect, which the guesthouse should fix.
Will gladly recommend anyone to stay here.
Attentive staff and breakfast was excellent. Motor car security is appreciated. Loved the 2 small waddling ducks around the garden.
Lots of mosquitos in the room without any remedies, but it's a great guesthouse with excellent food an lovely rooms and hospitality. 8.8 out of 10!
Negative: our room was a bit small. During our previous stay we were in a bigger room. The staff are very friendly and professional. We would sleep here again.
The roads around the guesthouse are exceptionally noisy so you cannot sleep at night and the reception area faces directly onto the main road making security a problem. The guesthouse was nowhere near as luxurious as the other 4 star guesthouses we stayed in throughout Northern and Western Cape. I definitely would not stay there again as it was too expensive for what the guesthouse offered. The manageress was however very helpful and provides excellent customer service. The lady who cleaned rooms and cooked was also prepared to go beyond what was expected for customers so the staff were excellent!
We stayed the night at Old House on our way from Johannesburg. Old House is divided into 2 plots and our room was in the house down the road (in other words not in the main house). Beautiful room with excellent air conditioning and quite spacious. Modern bathroom with small (suitable for one person) bath and comfortable shower. We were greatful for the free WiFi all over. The room has a bar fridge and a small TV with selected DStv channels. We really enjoyed our stay at Old House and it will remain our first choice whenever we find ourselves in Beaufort West.
Rooms are neat and stunning. The service was excellent and the dinner was so delicious! Will definitely recommend them.
Received fantastic accommodation, delicious food and incredible customer service from the staff!
Breakfast costs more than it's worth.
Kamer baie netjies. Aandete was totally amazing. Baie dankie vir die lekker poedig.
The rooms are neatly furnished and meals are well prepared and presented.
What impressed me was the fact that they phoned us when we were en route to Beaufort West to ask if we wanted to have dinner at the guesthouse and boy-oh-boy were those chops delicious! The extra sleeper couch that we requested in the room was perfect for our adult son and there was more than enough space in the unit. An aircon is always welcome and what with the neatness and cleanliness of the bathroom, Old House Luxury Guesthouse really has everything covered! The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. This accommodation comes highly recommended!
Reception was friendly. The house is divided in two and we were in the annex. Nice and clean, comfortable and perfectly located parallel to the main street. There was no early morning noise from trucks. Constructive criticism - the curtain in our room was exceptionally long and would look so much better if it were shorter.
The guesthouse is very neat, very private and spacious. Safe, they should add security gates so that you can keep the windows open during the night without worrying.
Thank you very much for a very nice clean place. I will definitely make use of Old House when I come in that direction again.
We had a wonderful stay. Old House is neat and the staff is professional.
The guest house is beautiful and the best place for a one night stop before proceeding with the drive to Cape Town.
See the stars.
The staff of Old House Guest House contacted us early in the morning and offered us a meal that was top notch. A little pricey but worth it, especially since we didn't know what time we would arrive. We slept in the annex on a side street which in my opinion was the better option as one of the main roads passes in front of the door. The service was excellent and the ladies who work there very nice and helpful with typical Karoo hospitality! I would definitely stay there again. I regretted choosing another place in Beaufort West on my return from the Cape, as it was nowhere near the same quality!
Delicious dinner. Great room and bathroom. Towels can be replaced.
Tourists can feel free to spend the night there, but only find out the finer details at reception, as they are not passed on when you check in.
Old House Guesthouse is neat, luxuriously furnished and clean. It's a good choice for a comfortable overnight stop. The menu is a bit above our price range so we ate elsewhere both times we stayed there. My only complaint is that only one towel is provided per person and not a smaller towel per guest as in most other guesthouses. I always need a smaller towel when I wash my hair. Otherwise, we were very happy with the stay and will definitely use it again in the future for an overnight stop when needed.
We slept at the restored part of Old House Guest House. Can see that there are still things missing, such as e.g. a chair in the room. More tables and chairs on the lawn outside, so more people can sit in the cool after a long journey.
Meets expectation. Unfortunately facing a very busy and noisy street. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Our reception was warm and hospitable. Rooms were clean, tidy and deliciously cool after a long day on the road. Dinner was delicious and so was the breakfast. Can highly recommend it to all travelers. Thank you very much.
Not worth four or five stars. Buildings old and in urgent need of maintenance. Plank floor in room is e.g. repaired with a zinc insert. Reception unorganized, had to wait about 30 minutes before room key was found.
It's an incredibly beautiful and peaceful place, will go back again!
Was lovely and very safe parking for cars.
It was easy to arrange and the service at the guesthouse was very good. It's really beautiful there.
Old House is very nicely furnished and definitely qualifies as luxury accommodation. I suspect it has been renovated since previous visitors commented that it is not luxurious. The only 2 points that keep us from giving it an even better score are that there is only 1 large towel per person provided and the walls are not very soundproof. It is definitely a good option for an overnight stay!
It was too bad that our 77 year old grandmother didn't have an en suite bathroom.
Beautiful place, great stay, great food, great service.
Lovely atmosphere, helped by friendly service.
Well.
Great service, and good wholesome food.
We were well recieved by reception, the facilities available offered cool refreshment on the very hot days. Our room was well presented to us, the bathroom facilities were good and the evening meal was well worthy waiting for. A very pleasant experience.
Will en-devour to return soon. I highly recommend staying at the Old Guest House.
