We had an amazing stay, very peaceful and tranquil. Highly recommended.
Calm and peaceful nature.
Lodge we lived in was beautiful! Neighbors behind us played rock-hard music until 5 in the morning, even after we asked them to sit down, they still continued to visit, which made the experience less pleasant.
Had an amazing stay. Unit was neat, clean and equipped with everything needed.
I really enjoyed being there. I won't mind to visit the place again. My wish is to see an extra swimming pool.
PHUMUZA provides a real rugged bush experience. Amazing hospitality. Tranquil and peaceful. Loved it.
It was a father and adult son getaway for the weekend. The staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. It is a nice venue with all the stuff you need to have a self-catering breakaway. Will definitely come back.
We were looking for a quiet, peaceful and private place to relax in the bush - no TV, no noisy neighbours, no entertainment, no unnecessary frills and freedom to walk all over the well-wooded property. This was what we experienced in the unit "Troupant". A microwave oven would have been nice, but it was not promised and we managed quite well without it. The R300 breakage deposit paid in cash was refunded by bank transfer shortly after the stay once we provided the bank account particulars.
It was very pleasant just too short. Will stay longer next time.
Had a great stay. The place could do with a microwave, but we had an amazing weekend nonetheless.
Yes, it was very nice.
We had a very peaceful stay at Phumuza Bush Lodge, and the cabin was so clean and it accommodates 4 people (2 partners and 2 children).
Yes, it was very nice.
Very nice, quiet and peaceful.
A wonderful place to rest. Beautiful scenery. The outdoor kitchen and outdoor bathroom are fantastic! You get so close to nature without camping.
The surrounding grounds to the unit was well maintained making for nice walks with our grand children. The furnishings inside the unit needs updating, the same applies to the matresses and beds. The kitchen was however well equipped with all you need to prepare and present meals.
It was lovely and relaxing; you are very in touch with nature.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly young man whom we needed to pay our deposit. The website shows R300. The note we got shows R500. Upon looking for wood and ice and other essentials, there was none in the shop available. We then proceeded back to Bela Bela to acquire those. The fridge in our unit is so loud that we switched it off at night in order to sleep. The bed despite being a bamboo mattress is very uncomfortable due to the age of the mattress. We did not see a host for the entire weekend. No one checked in on us to welcome us or see if we needed anything. On Saturday night other units played music loudly from their cars without being asked to consider other resort occupants. There is also nowhere to hang your clothes, as this spot is taken up by the fridge. It wasn't the greatest stay, but we did enjoy the cleanliness of the unit and being away from the city.
Stay was pleasant, apart from trash and barbecue which are not cleaned daily. We went to buy black bags for the trash ourselves. One roll of toilet paper is not enough for three people for a weekend; specify own toilet paper must be brought along. One bedside lamp didn't have a globe in it, sink didn't have a plug for dishes. We didn't use their crockery at all, brought our own, hope I don't get penalized on my deposit for the above.
We had a wonderful stay, it is beautiful, clean, and peaceful. The host is friendly.
Each unit is very private. We loved our stay there. It felt like we were the only people in the bush.
We enjoyed our stay and will be back.
Place was nice and clean upon arrival. There is no daily cleaning. Note, there are no dish towels, sponges or dish soap, so bring your own. The dirt road is more or less 2 km and a flat vehicle might skid.

Very peaceful and nice.
Love the quietness and the sounds of nature. I really enjoyed every day and the friends that came along made it even better. I couldn't fault anything because everything was provided. Great place.
We went for a walk, nice and quiet in nature. The pool was nice. The Tower was awesome, overlooking the whole area. Will go again.
Very peaceful environment.
We had a great stay for our weekend away. It is dead quiet there, which is wonderful, because you are close enough to the town to go shopping, but far enough that you can only hear nature. I will definitely come again, it's especially nice if you just want to get away from the everyday craziness.
Nice lookout tower at the lodge. Staff very friendly and helpful. Quick responses to WhatsApp. Overall a very lovely stay.
A wonderful place to visit if you just want to relax.
Perfect stay for a golf weekend away. Nice cabin in the bush with everything you need. Would visit again.
It was enjoyable and peaceful.
Very enjoyable and mind relaxing.
Troupand is a beautiful house with facilities. The house does need some sharp knives and warmer blankets for cold nights. The exterior lights for security are important, but shine brightly into the room disturbing nighttime sleep. Suggest perhaps denser curtains.
Recommendation: Please consider changing the bed mattresses, as they are slightly hard to sleep on.
Ideal destination for a quick getaway at affordable rates.
Very nice to experience the bushveld environment in a simple but neat unit with a campfire and morning walk.
We enjoyed ourselves at Phumuza Bush Lodge. It was a bit different from the usual lifestyle with the shower and toilet in the open air.
Peaceful forest stay. Might consider putting wire mesh in front of windows to keep monkeys out of kitchen.
Real sense of nature.
There was no water most of the time, the pillow was smelling, and there was no soap to wash dishes. Can one sleep the whole night without water? If you have a running stomach at night, what then? One needs to request them to open the water.
We will never see the place again as a family.
The place is so peaceful.
See stars.
The tranquility, nature and animals were an experience.
It was a short break, but well worth it. Will definitely go again.
We had a great time at Phumuza. Very peaceful and everything you need in the unit for a woodland getaway.
It is the ideal place where you don't hear any city noises. The unit is private, quiet with a beautiful view of the forest. It's a place where you can really relax without any technology demanding your attention. I will definitely go again. Friendly service.
Our team booked out the entire lodge for a night. Had a great time swimming and hanging out together at Impala house.
Neat place. If you want to rest this is the right place. Nothing for kids to do except swimming. Lots to do and see in the area.
Great stay, the unit is in such a way that you feel you are in the bush when coming down the stairs and it's cozy.
Close to everything, peaceful and gives you the bushveld vibes you need.
There were too few plates for 4 people (3 plates). Furthermore, we had a great stay, the house is comfortable and it feels very safe when you crawl in.
People were nice and friendly. There is plenty of ice and firewood for sale.
One could see that the place had not been used for a long time. There were some bushes among the pebbles.
It's a paradise for nature lovers who want to shake off the hustle and bustle of the city and just find themselves again and connect with God.
They need to have activities.
We had our Bull Terrier Jessie with us and it was a wonderful experience! She really enjoyed the walk and the field.
The hosts were friendly and helpful. Informed us upfront about the breakage fee and gave us receipt upon payment. Shaaron kept on sending updates about load shedding schedule in the area. We truly enjoyed our stay!
With microwave and bigger freeze will stay longer.
Would prefer for at least a TV and microwave to be included for my next visit.
We loved the quietness and the bush. The chalets were absolutely beautiful. Beyond our expectations. Thank you for a fantastic weekend!
It was good.

The 4 days in the forest was the best decision yet. There is a pool for the children to swim in and lots of sand to play with and sticks to draw pictures in the sand. I prefer Phumuza Lodge because there is nothing to rush about or do. I could totally rest and feel what it felt like to do nothing, there were enough places close enough to get a quick takeaway or sit down and eat.
Peaceful and quiet. Excellent getaway from the city.
Would just suggest that the Google Maps location should be removed, as it takes one to a place far away from Phumuza. The owner did send a message mentioning this, but I got the message late after I had already gotten lost.
Beautiful place, warm welcome.
What a week, it was so peaceful and quiet, just what one needs after a long, hard year. Definitely not the last time.
Good communication with customers. The accommodation was neat and well furnished.
Very peaceful if you just want to relax.
The tranquility away from everything and especially when you live in the city and villages has been so nice. Without TV or any extra things that one takes for granted were not available and only brought one back to earth. It was really very nice.
It was the perfect escape from the busy city life. It was very quiet and peaceful. My 15 month old son enjoyed playing in the pool and water puddles after the rain. We took walks around the property which was good. I would suggest the map of the property in the information booklet to be modified a bit and to have a small section in the booklet about the different routes one could take to get to the lookout tower and around the property. I always looked forward to walking to the lookout tower. We really had a good time. The owners were very kind and accommodating. Thank you.
It was nice to just experience silence.
A wonderful getaway. We had a chance to recharge properly. Thank you!
We enjoyed our stay.
We went to switch off in the woods, just what we needed.
Unfortunately we could only stay one night, but enjoyed it very much. Everything neat and clean. Any suggestion would be to put fans in the rooms, it was quite difficult to get through the night in the heat.
The road directions on the web page are completely wrong. However, the resort sends a WhatsApp with the correct directions - follow these directions! And just save. with loadshedding there is also no water.
The lodge itself is very neat and well laid out. The master bedroom is large but the other room is more suitable for children. The open kitchen creates a nice atmosphere around the good braai facilities. Only disturbing impression on the weekend was the neighborhood's dogs that barked and made noise all night.
Remember to send your bank details to Phumuza Bush Lodge after 3 days and claim your damage deposit back.
It was a lovely two days. Accommodation was clean, quiet and relaxing.
Silence for the soul.
Rest for my soul, slept nicely and nature was awesome. Would go again anytime, just for longer.
Quiet, safe, clean.
Just a pity the outside shower didn't work
We had a great time relaxing, thank you very much!
The owner was so helpful and immediately helped if we needed something. I think the teenagers would have just liked to have something to do as there are no activities or "games room" or putt-putt etc. there was nothing for them to do, but it ensured that they got to hang out with the grown-ups! Beautiful, quiet and rest for your soul!
Sharon, thanks for a nice weekend. We once again had a great time and enjoyed our time with you!
It is a good place when you just want peace of mind and a refreshing spot.
The Campbell's are very friendly and spared no effort to make us feel at home. The problem with the fabric not working was solved within half an hour. The bedding needs upgrading and storage space in the rooms and bathroom is a problem. Some kind of covering outside the log cabins, e.g. a layer of pebbles or grass like at the pool and main area will help reduce the dust in the cabins, which was quite a problem as we happened to experience a lot of wind/dust during our stay.
The houses are too close together.
We had a great time at Phumuza. The cottage was well appointed and we had everything we needed. Thank you for a wonderful weekend and we will visit again soon.
An ideal place to just break away. My husband and I really enjoyed the silence. Uncle Hennie was very pleasant.
We enjoyed it incredibly much. The silence there is amazing. Didn't want to come back to the city. Phumuza is definitely the place to enjoy nature. 10 out of 10.
It is definitely a break from city life and technology. Just to realize there is so much more to appreciate and learn about nature, to take a moment from our busy lives and appreciate the little things again, to spend a precious and special time with the family without any interruptions .
See stars.
As usual, our visit was top notch. Thank you very much Sharon for your hospitality.
Neat, safe and great.
Lovely, quiet place and good service. Would recommend.
We checked in on a Sunday after everyone had left, so we were the only guests on site, which was fantastic. Could sit alone at the lookout point and also enjoy the pool. The evening in the silence of the forest around the fire was great. There was some problem with the cottage we booked with the outside shower and kitchen. But was not the end of the world. The cottage we found was well equipped with everything we needed. We always say we are easygoing, fine with anything, as long as it is clean. But I was genuinely surprised at how clean the house was. There's not even one cobweb or nothing where you usually expect it in the roof or under the garden chairs and table outside. Will want to come again someday and bring the whole family to the big house for a little getaway.
The quietness is indescribable. Lovely stay!
Conveniently close after a long journey from Pretoria. Chalet is neat and clean. Lovely walking trail and in the middle of the bush.
Just the bedding was difficult to keep on the bed. Keeps falling off. Furthermore, it was pleasant.
We were a group of parents in the area for a kiddies rugby tour and Phumuza met what we needed. Very nice environment.
It had been a lovely forest holiday. Quiet and calm atmosphere and we were very pleasantly received by the owner. All the staff were very friendly. We only wanted to leave late and were allowed to enjoy all the facilities on site until late and really appreciated that. This site was pretty clean and tidy.
It's the sort of place where you find peace for your soul with enough entertainment from the squirrels and bushbaies. There are buck tracks, bush paths and a very high viewing tower at a waterhole that we took over the tree tops. We really enjoyed the "Vlakvark" wooden unit, but more so the sand between our toes. It's a forest jewel full of wild fruit trees and bird life.
Will definitely visit again. Owners go out of their way to help you. Very peaceful forest atmosphere.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend staying at the lodge if you are looking for a peaceful bush experience.
Very nice and very quiet. Has all the necessary things you need to stay the night. It is not far from the town. Very easily accessible.
Very neat, value for money getaway. Not for small children. Not much to do. Unit was more for couples getaway.
Place served purpose as a place to sleep only. Cabin was really not suitable for 4 adults, was hopelessly too small. Shower head was broken and made showering difficult. Almost no water pressure in kitchen and we had to bring water from the bathroom to wash dishes. Other than that it wasn't bad, but we only slept over and didn't do much there. It was really just very overpriced in my opinion.
It is not value for money and not very clean. Definitely needs attention and supervision when cleaning.
I think the cottage we stayed in was unoccupied for a while, or it was hardly cleaned before our arrival. Linen was not fresh and cobwebs where everywhere. The outside shower is a good idea, but there may need to be a mop or cloth to dry the floor, or walk through the water to the room after visiting the toilet. Nice place, but can improve to make accommodation more comfortable.
We did not receive notice that towels are not provided. The bedding is not on par. Fitted sheet was town en the duvet cover was thing and washed out. We feel there are a lot of accommodation in the area and competition for Phumuza Bush Lodge. It really needed attention.
It was a way out on a gravel road after the wedding finished late at night. The bedding was weird, the toilet and basin leaked and the toilet doesn't fill quickly after it has been flushed.
Wonderful, peaceful place. We had a peaceful weekend. Thank you very much to Hennie and his team. We really enjoyed it. We will definitely stay there again.
Thank you for making it so convenient for a mother and two children. We really enjoyed it and the woodland was beautiful!
We thoroughly enjoyed it. The tranquility was the most important thing for us. The accommodation is unique and a change from other places. The owners are really very nice and excellent hosts. Would definitely recommend it.
Thank you very much for a fantastic break and for the braai spices.
Had a great time and everything was neat and clean. Friendly people who own the place. The fire pit is a little deep for older people with stiff backs - braai could be raised a bit?
Value for money.
Clean and everything needed - friendly and helpful owners. Quiet and beautiful surroundings - safe and close for a nice break.
I recommend the place to anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet, friendly place to relax in front of the fire and night sounds in the background.
Gul received on arrival. Great service. Had such a nice stay after the hectic time at the KykNet show. Brought us light quickly when severe weather knocked out power in the entire area. Thank you very much Phumuza. See you again next year.
Very quiet atmosphere, not for teenagers. There are no animals as placed on the website.
Everything was perfect. It's only the braai place that was really unpleasant. It is a very deep hole in the ground. So much wood is needed and you have to stand on your knees to grill the meat.
Lovely night spent with kimders in the "bush". Very private and pleasant.
We recently had the opportunity to stay at Phumuza. Although it was very hot, there were ceiling fans in the units we stayed in (Garden and Giraffe). Very comfortable and neat wooden houses in the forest. Small but cool cooling "paddle pool" which was of course delicious in the 45° when we were there. Just take your own cleaning products, dishcloths, towels etc. together (there is not provided). Overall very nice.
Phumuza makes you feel at home, neat and very tranquil. Will definitely recommend and go again.
Quiet area, perfect for a weekend break away from the city rush.
A very well equipped living unit that is spacious enough for 8 to 10 people. The veranda is fantastic with a nice view of the woodland. Would just like a little better grilling facility. Will definitely go there again!
We had a great time, but they don't attend to their guest, not even orientation for the guest when they arrive. all in all, they don't have hospitality, but it is a great place to relax and enjoy nature.
Sharon went to great lengths to accommodate and help us out. Place is small but neat, and the environment is rest for your soul.
The place is very beautiful and has nice views, very peaceful and enjoyed the time in the forest very much and rested a lot. The viewpoint could do with a bit of renovation and is very nice, but needs some attention. Furthermore, it is a very peaceful place where you can rest well.
The accommodation is clean on arrival and the wooden houses very nice. No service during stay: No unit cleaning, no trash removal, no fire cleaning, no toilet paper replacement during stay. On arrival the owner closed the gate on our vehicle and the damage was: scratch marks and paint coming off. Would have thought that at least there would be sensors on gate; especially when working with the public. No apology or acceptance of accident or compensation received.
Still awaiting on the refund for the loss or damages. Didn't receive 100% service as we had to wait on a light to be fixed. Need more lights around the cabins. The pond by the tower needs to be maintained, as it an exceptional view to have from the top.
The houses are clean and tidy. The nature and routes are beautiful and quiet, but one gets the feeling that the owners' heart is no longer in the business. A little neglected in places. We still enjoyed it. Walked a little and swam a lot.
It's nice and quiet, good place to be with friends.
No chairs. No microwave. Sheets were dirty. Very tight.
The intercom at the gate was not working when I got there. I had to look up the number on the internet and call to have the gate opened. The gate only opened halfway and I had to call again to have it fully opened so I could drive through. When I got to reception Shaaron sarcastically told me I should have pressed the "emergency" button and not the income button. No card facility. When I gave my card for the payment. Sharon: "It is a pity that people do not read the information supplied before they book." We checked in on Thursday which was a holiday. I got to Phumuza after work on Friday around 6pm and pressed the intercom (this time it worked). Shaaron answered and when I asked if she would open the gate she replied that it was not convenient for her and I had to wait for my husband to bring the remote. The kitchen leaves much to be desired. Two of the plates were cracked and a mug chipped. The knives are of poor quality and we did not dare to cut anything with them because they would break. I drove and went to buy steak knives. The camp chairs were dirty and the tray part of the chair was broken. The room is so cramped that the bunker bed is in front of the bathroom door. You have to push your hand through the bed rail to open the door. There are much better lodges for the same value of money in the area and I would recommend everyone to book somewhere other than Phumuza instead. There you will also have tranquility and a beautiful environment but definitely a friendlier reception.
Phumuza bush lodge. Can be recommended for sure. We really enjoyed and relaxed around the fire. Phumuza bush lodge is nice clean and tidy. Will definitely visit there again.
Hostess was very friendly and immediately made us feel at home. It was just lovely to be out in the fields, walking and barbecuing and not having any noise from sirens and city noise.
Lovely peaceful weekend in the bush, Phumuza we will definitely see you again.
A Peaceful destination greets us where we could humble ourselves to our Almighty father God. The wooden hut - Vlakvark - gave our stay a Unique bushveld feeling - smelling wood and "veld" so fresh. Meditation on body, soul and mind were right on our doorstep. Listen, smell, feel, see. Unbelievable bird twitter greets you early mornings and at sunset. A zest for life we found in the simplicity of the bush, seeing squirrels and bush babies, impala and a lot of birds. The best. Amazing sunsets and sunrises from the tower. There you definitely experience the splendour of the King. Glory to our God! It's His breath in our lungs so we pour out the praise! All the underlined words spell PHUMUZA - Place of Restoration.
It was very tranquil in the bush with good facilities!
Everything went very well.
I would recommend it to anyone.
Stunning place, peaceful atmosphere, good sercvice. Troupant Room can do with another braai because there is only on multi-purpose boma.
Phumuza Bush Lodge is a very nice place for a holiday, the management was very helpful and nice. The place is clean, unique and very beautiful. We were treated as one of their own. I am definitely going back next year.
It was very quiet and private with various bird species and nice long walks in the bush. I felt safe the whole time.
We were very kindly received. Everything was explained to us. We wanted privacy and it was respected. We went dot a walk and looked at everything. There is quite a lot to do. There are feather pillows, a Jacuzzi, pool table and swimming pool. Unfortunately, they were doing repairs to the pool, so we couldn't enjoy it. They offered to fill the swimming pool for us, but it's a very big expense for just 2 people. The living area was very tidy and clean. We had a very nice few days there. The tranquillity is just what you need to recharge your batteries.
Nice and quiet and good value for money. Lots of potential.
Our visit went as we had hoped. Restful. Everything one needs is there, but we would recommend that Troupant's kitchen utensils be upgraded a bit (steak knives etc.) and that the double bed's mattress be replaced sooner rather than later with a better quality one. We would also suggest that the unit be equipped with a roof fan or two for the hot woodland summers. Furthermore, we had a great time.
It was a beautiful house and I had a very nice time. It would have been nice if someone mentioned beforehand that you should bring your own dish washing liquid and dishcloths. The bedding was not very clean. The double bed in the spare room was warn through and it flet like sleeping on springs.
We enjoyed the silence and the privacy of the Troupant unit. The only thing that was a bit annoying, was that the geyser wasn't switched on, so our shower on the first night wasn't warm. The braai is a hole in the ground and even though it's a nice camp fire, it's uncomfortable to braai in.
Very disappointed in Sharon! We waited almost a week to get our deposit back and then it wasn't even paid back in full because we used a pot which accidentally burned black! Nou it's so-called "damaged". If you want to braai you have to sit on the ground because there were no camping chairs available to sit on! Security system is there but doesn't work at all, we felt unsafe and couldn't sleep at all! I will not recommend it to my family or friends at all! First and last time that I will visit this place! No stars for customer service or safety!
Our cabin wasn't the one we paid the deposit for, didn't switch on the geyser, toilet is out of order, no privacy. Dirct view onto the owner's patio.
Look out for the stars.
We had the most relaxing, enjoyable break! The hosts are great, the place was clean and comfy and private enough to not hear or see anyone. A really great venue!
It's scenery is beautiful and wonderfully private and quiet and we really enjoyed the lookout tower.
The place was great. Very affordable and secure. Home away from home. Loved the self catering facilities.
Great accommodation. Basic, clean and relaxing in the bush. Great value for money. One of the few places that allow you to stay for one night only over a weekend. Definitely recommended.
Everything was perfect but the swimming pool is too small. A few people in the pool and it's full house.
Our visit was short and lovely. Unfortunately too early in the season to swim, but the swimming pool looked very inviting. Die Troupant, our unit, has everything you need. The lookout point was highlight. The owners are friendly and helpful. Maybe the curtains can be thicker to block out the security light? And the outside shower needs some maintainance.
Enjoyed our weekend break. It was clean and comfortable. Not much game.
Very friendly service, Would prefer a chalet next time.
If you just want to get away from the city noise Phumuza is the place to be. It is very peaceful there.
The place is very peaceful, unfortunately we didn't see many animals, only one kid very far down the road. We got the feeling that the animals are scary. The view from the observation tower was breathtaking. Our stay didn't start too well, with no hot water in the chalet, but we also understand that it's not the owners fault - the element of the geyser burned out after a storm the night before. The owners went out of their way to fix it and we had reasonably hot water by lunchtime the next day. Our goal was to just do nothing, and just recharge batteries that we managed. The silence and tranquility is wonderful and it really is a paradise.
A bit expensive for self catering and available facilities. Otherwise very peaceful surroundings.
The place is neat, except that they can upgrade the accommodation. The kitchen is outside and very uncomfortable and there isn't a TV. The house is cold and there aren't enough facilities to warm it up.
I expected more luxury for the price we paid. The outdoor shower and toilet are not very practical.
We were disappointed with our stay at Phumuza Lodge, the log cabin we stayed in was very small and did not look at all like any photos on the website. The dirt road is very smooth and there are bumps that you can only get over with a 4x4 and not a normal car. The Jacuzzi doesn't even have water in it and doesn't work. Our light in the room did not work, the chairs to sit outside are torn and broken, the facilities are very basic and there are no extras eg towels, coffee, milk sugar etc. There is also no light outside to barbecue in not the evening. They also only provide 5 pieces of wood for a fire. The grill was very dirty and the brush to clean it is broken and dirtier than the grill. It is very quiet and nice to get away from the city, but for what you pay it is really not worth it.

It is excellent value for money. Neat, comfortable, clean, and very friendly owners. I will definitely use them again. I just didn't know about them before, otherwise I would have been there a long time ago.
The three days were a special opportunity for us to recharge the flat batteries of the hectic life, and this in the heart of the bushveld - without TV, radio, blaring music or any other disturbing sounds. There we could enjoy the sounds of nature: birds, bugs, wind and our thorn wood fire. The owners were friendly, but in no way intrusive, they understand when guests want to be alone. We will definitely come again.
Beautiful, very private, peaceful and quiet. Hostess and host provided great service from our arrival to our departure. Well rested and everything needed was there. Will definitely call on them again.
We enjoyed a quiet getaway so much with just the silence without TV, radio, cell phone reception ─ it was heavenly. We could sit quietly by the fire and look at the stars and hear the foxes, delicious barbecue with bushveld wood. The Chalet's kitchen was very well equipped, nothing was missing, and the beautiful decor impressed us, We will definitely go there again. Thank you, it was heavenly.
We will definitely visit the place again. The owners were warm and made us feel at home immediately. The most enjoyable was the forest shower. Because it was so hot, it was nice and cool.
The management was very helpful and was there immediately if we needed anything. The pool is fantastic in the summer. The silence is noticeable and it allows one to rest and sleep well. We had a nice barbecue in the evening and also went for a nice walk. The children had plenty of space to play and keep themselves occupied. There are a bunch of animals too - like night monkeys and little goats, even chickens! I would advise the management to simply sell extra wood or briquettes on the premises. Bela-Bela is indeed close, but the drive between Phumuza and Bele-Bela would not be necessary if there were basic items available at the lodge (wood, briquettes, Blitz, soap). The mobile reception is apparently going to improve, but it's actually better if there is little signal on a holiday. It's a very nice place.
Very nice stay. Super clean and tidy. I would recommend that they install gas plates as well. There had been load shedding when we were there, and it was a story to get water boiled on the fire for coffee at 6:30 in the morning.
It was great! A nice break from the city. Will recommend it to others.
My lovie and I stayed in the Troupant unit. It was very private and safe. It was an unforgettable time we had there. Sharon and her husband made us feel right at home and were always available when we had questions. Would definitely recommend if you want to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle. Thanks, that was awesome!
The establishment is very secluded, but not far from town. It is also intimate. Loved the outdoor shower.
Can't fault accommodation. We really enjoyed it and the owners are helpful and friendly.
It's nice and private, and lovely in the woods with an evening fire.
I would visit Phumuza Lodge again anytime! The accommodation is neat and clean and there is friendly and helpful management.
The place is okay if you want to take a break from the noise of the city. The only thing i was disappointed about is that there is no fan or aircon to help because the place is very hot.
Please see the stars.
It was not ideal for us cause we wanted some kind of activities to do, when we asked around no information was given. There was literally no interaction with the hosts. I feel they could have done better. Phumuza is just a dry land, no entertainment would definitely recommend it to old folks above the age of 70.
Reception staff were very nice and accommodating.
We were there for a weekend. The place needs work, but I will definitely go back again!
On Friday evening there was a burglary at our vehicle. The burglars walked around our house barefoot. We went to Bela-Bela on Saturday, and we found out from the people, who are part of the neighborhood watch, that that particular house is often broken into or robbed. I suggest they tighten up the security before they ever want to rent out the Warthog or Giraffe units again. The owners did approach us on Saturday to ask us to please. to stay and checked into a cottage next to the main house. The weekend was nice, except for the incident on Friday night.
The phone number we got from LekkeSlaap was not the correct contact number. It seems to have expired. I suggest that LekkeSlaap puts the right number in the ad. There was also no coffee or tea to drink.
It's quiet and peaceful, but we didn't see any wildlife. It didn't suit us that the toilet was not properly partitioned off with its own door and ceiling - everything is open. It is very hot, but there is no ceiling fan, or even just a regular standing fan.
We also made a reservation at the establishment for Friday evening, at R650 for a chalet for 2. My problem was not with the unit, but with the fact that there were no basic amenities. Although this is a self-catering unit, one would at least expect towels to be available. We realized this at 9 o'clock in the evening when we wanted to take a shower, and in the end my husband and I had to dry off with our clothes on. Had I been aware that there would be no towels, I would have packed. There wasn't even a piece of a dishtowel to wipe something with in the kitchen, nor a drop of soap. There was no extra bedding. 1 duvet for the double bed and 1 duvet for the single bed they put in there. I completely understand the concept of self-catering, but I have never experienced anything so primitive and we have stayed overnight in many self-catering places. On Saturday morning the managers/owners were not at their home and I called the lady and explained to her that I was unhappy and also why I was unhappy. She then informed me that it was self-catering and that they did not provide towels. However, she then offered to give us one of the log cabins for our Saturday night booking (the 23rd) at no extra charge. She asked that we please just have to give the unit a chance to be cleaned as there were people staying overnight on Friday night. I mentioned to her that we would not be back until later in the day as our son played rugby that day. On our return on Saturday afternoon at a quarter to four, the lady was waiting for us at the office. She then told me that she could not give us the larger unit as the people (who had stayed the night before) had decided to stay another night - this after she had promised us the unit - and that we have no choice but to spend the night again in the bedroom for 2. She then also pulled out a bunch of papers that supposedly confirm what is not in the units (including the towels) and claims that she sends out that breakdown with every booking confirmation. I then mentioned to her that I have my booking confirmation in my car and can show it to her, and that what she has there now is definitely NOT on my confirmation. She didn't even want to listen to me any further and just said she was sorry, we'll just have to take the unit. However, we then decided to drive home and returned her keys.
Where told about alarm to be used when we walked in. That was scary and staying next to the workers made us even more unsafe. They should maybe think about cleaning under their beds... had a shock when we chased a spider and saw what was under the bed. That is budget accommodation.
Never! No phone reception, terrible roads, you need 4x4, power sockets above the bed by your head.
