Check in was super fast. Only had to fill in 3 spaces, the one room chalet was spacious and had air conditioning. It also had sun block curtains. There is soap in a dispenser in the shower as well as next to the sink. There was a small container with milk as well as coffee/tea/sugar etc bags. The staff were very friendly and super helpful. Breakfast is buffet style and dinner was a-la-carte with a salad and bread selection as Spur always had. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and up to standard.
Excellent, what an oasis to reach after 10 hours of driving. Beautiful well-kept park with animals moving around. Our room was lavishly furnished, good clean linen, well-equipped kitchen. We would have been able to braai or prepare our own food, but the restaurant had an excellent menu. Wonderful friendly staff, so we could just relax. The included continental breakfast was scrumptious; we felt energized for our trip home. Thank you Daan and staff for the good experience.

Nice stay, although the rondavel no. 18 where we slept is in urgent need of maintenance. The sink is loose, paint peeling off cabinet doors. No loose mats in front of the bed, floor ice cold when you get up. Horrible wake up noise by helicopter that took off at 6:30, flew very low over the rondavel. After that, from about 7:00, 6 workers who were sitting 20m from our rondavel were talking and laughing very loudly. It was very disturbing, it should not be like this at any lodge.

We stayed one night at Red Sands 16 years ago. The facilities and resort are still in excellent condition (slept in one of the rondavels this time). Enjoyed delicious meals and could sleep peacefully.

Got there late at night in a thunderstorm, nevertheless they made us breakfast packs within half an hour as we had to drive again the next morning before sunrise, exceptional!
I can only say good things about this lodge. We booked an hour and a half away and arrived to find the paperwork ready and room waiting. We bought ice from the barmen who was friendly and welcoming, as was the manager and staff at breakfast the following morning. The self-catering room was spotlessly clean, the crockery and cutlery in good condition. Relaxing on the balcony having a braai and enjoying the view, watching a few buck stroll past was just great. The whole lodge is neat and well run and it is clear that whoever owns this lodge has high standards.

Would definitely recommend and you can stay longer, the restaurant's food was also delicious and there are braai facilities at your chalet, the kitchen has everything and bathroom lovely big and clean.
Red Sands did not disappoint. What you see on their website is accurate and the 4x4 route is a must, if you have the vehicle to do it. Covid rules and regulations were followed to a tee.
This was our introduction to the Kalahari Red Sand! The units are well equipped and very comfortable and I can see why this establishment is so popular and was recommended to us by everyone we asked while planning our trip. The on site restaurant food is excellent. After two stays I can recommend Red Sands to anyone without hesitation.

Very clean and comfortable. Two braai places at the chalet - outside and under cover on the veranda. Price very fair. Feels more like a place where we want to vacation rather than just an overnight stay.

Options for 5 and 10 km dirt road routes and also a mountain walking route. Lovely visit in the cozy restaurant for dinner, and buffet breakfast was top notch! The rooms are very well laid out and spacious. I love the funky playful color scheme. Reception and all the staff are particularly friendly and kind. Our chalet was on the mountain in the midst of unspoiled nature with goats peeking out from time to time. The dinner and breakfast were of high quality and the service very friendly. Various mountain bike routes from easy to nice technical.
We have stayed at Red Sands on two occasions in the last two weeks and were very impressed! A real 'hidden gem' - the rooms are well equipped and nice and big and the restaurant is a highlight! Do try the Rogan Josh lamb curry! The free breakfast before we get back on the long road is also very tasty. We would definitely recommend Red Sands and look forward to stopping by again on our way to the Kgalagadi!

There are many plus sides as indicated by the star rating. Small items need attention: The lighting is insufficient especially in the kitchen. The geyser was turned off so our first shower was icy as it is winter. The braai grid wasn't cleaned properly. The cooking facilities and cutlery were not enough. For example, the description claims that there is a stove, but there were only a 2 plate mini stove and microwave. However, I would love to stay there again. Enjoyed it and and reacted promptly to a few extra requests.

Well equipped and convenient units in a tranquil resort. Restaurant excellent. Decor in rooms spoiled by cheap plastic toilet and yellow painted cupboard in bedroom area. Directions given is wrong - 15 km east of Kuruman while the lodge is actually west of Kuruman.

Red Sands Country Lodge is reached by a gravel road, and guests are required to enquire about the condition of the road, before arrival, as it could be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Only the permitted number of people, children included, are allowed in the bungalows and chalets.

The lodge offers guests a choice of thatched bungalows or chalets that can accommodate between 2 to 4 people. The air-conditioned units are furnished with comfortable beds, and have en-suite bathrooms with showers or baths, or a combination of both.
Each of the units also has a small kitchenette that is equipped with a small fridge, as well as tea-and-coffee-making facilities. All the units are equipped with TVs with selected DStv channels, and some open onto a terrace with private braai facilities. The chalets and rondavels have lovely views of the lodge and hills.
The lovely lodge offers a thatched reception, pool bar, a wedding hall, conference facilities, and a renowned continental a-la-carte restaurant that serves some of the best food in the area. Guests can cool down in the swimming pool on those hot Kalahari summer days.
Red Sands is situated in on an 1800 ha private nature reserve with 17 different game species, and over 50 different species already identified on the property. Guests are welcome to explore the reserve with their own vehicle or discover our bush trails on foot or by mountain bike.
