Thank you, we had a very nice stay. The house was neat and clean. All kitchen and braai facilities were there. With one bathroom and no separate toilet it was sometimes a problem. The farm atmosphere was wonderful, as were all the beautiful flowers in the field.
Family of 4 stayed in Kolgans for 2 nights. Lovely farm atmosphere with perfect balance between comfort and unspoilt. House was clean, extremely tidy and very comfortable with treats such as electric blankets on all the beds, air conditioning and WiFi. Bedding was deliciously soft and the house has everything you need. The beauty of flowers just behind the house is fairy-tale beautiful. Hostess is just a WhatsApp away, responds quickly and very helpful. Thank you, we would love to visit again.

We were a family of 6 adults. We were on a flower viewing tour. We were pleasantly surprised with the flowers that were all around our accommodation. Everything was clean and tidy, and hostess went out of their way to make things as comfortable as possible. Everything you need is there for a winter or summer visit.

We had a lovely time - the addition of aircon was a wonderful surprise, particularly since it got very hot in the three days we were there. We could tell that much care and effort has gone into the cottage we stayed in. We were very comfortable and appreciated the hospitality!

We stayed here for 3 nights to explore the region of the West Coast and to view the Wold Spring Flowers. It was the perfect spot to get to the coat and into the Cederberg as well.
We were kindly received by Wendy. The cottage is very well designed with everything we needed. There is lovely sharp lighting which for me is a big priority in a place to stay. Everything was beautifully clean and tasteful and very artistically designed. We could see that the cottage was planned and built with love. The beautiful wall in shades that match the furniture is breathtakingly beautiful and must have been hours of work. There is a lovely braai area that draws excellently and is large enough to simply serve as a fireplace if needed, and everything in the house. The cottage was spotless and fully equipped. Our hostess received us very kindly and also simply told us where we could see beautiful flowers on the farm. We had a wonderful time on the porch and also in front of the lovely fireplace in the living room. We would have liked to stay longer.

We stayed two nights at Rietrylaagte and looked at wildflowers in the surrounding area. Beautiful wildflowers on the farm along roads that can be explored by mountain bike/hike. Wendy kept us informed about bees unexpectedly nesting in our planned unit and made another unit available. Bring bottled drinking water. The children really enjoyed the working farm with thoughtful farm workers, goats and sheep.

The description clearly mentions that the establishment is "easily accessible by regular sedan". Well, my regular sedan's undercarriage was badly scuffed in places, and I unfortunately got bogged down on my way out. This description is therefore not accurate at all. Furthermore, the communication was poor, and also not accurate. The confirmation email clearly said to go to the main house. When I got there there was no one to be found, and after quite a while and a call or 2 the hostess finally appeared, and informed me that she was sleeping, and that the unit was open and I should go there (not like the epos said to go directly to the main house).
Definitely worth the 5km detour off the N7. The unit is very neat, equipped with everything one could possibly need. Quiet farm atmosphere with an incredible view over the fields.

We had a great stay! It was a bit awkward as the dates were mixed up. The house is set up for self-catering. I would like to suggest that the furniture be moved just a little to allow 4 guests to use the table inside for meals.

Wendy responds immediately when you contact her. Beautiful picnic spot with beautiful rock formations and distant views. Your vehicle must have a high ground clearance if you want to drive around the farm. Our Toyota RAV could basically go anywhere. Rietrylaagte Accommodation and 4x4 is centrally located if you e.g. want to go see flowers.

We were 2 sisters who only slept there at night (had a wedding near Rietrylaagte). However, we were anxious because there was no reception for calling, texting, WhatsApp. We did have the alarm panic button. We stayed in Patrys. The house is beautifully decorated inside and very neat and clean, your view outside is breathtaking. We decided we would go back again, this time with the rest of the family, or with friends. The Trawal area is beautiful. The dirt road is neat and an ordinary car can drive there. Thank you Altus and Wendy for being so helpful.

We really enjoyed the fresh air and silence. Dirt road is a bit bad in places if you travel with a normal two-wheel drive vehicle, but if you drive slowly it is very safe. We enjoyed the beautiful view, as well as watching the birds and the stars at night. There was a problem with our fridge but Wendy quickly sorted it out and was very hospitable and friendly.

Partridge unit was neat and clean. It has everything you need at an affordable price. If you want to escape from the city's hustle and bustle, this is just the right place. For those who like walking and beautiful rock formations, then the rocks against the hill tell ancient stories.
The place is neat and comfortable. I do find it strange that we had to clean everything ourselves, and pay a fee for cleaning. That fee can be included in the accommodation instead. The hostess is very friendly and it was really nice.

Wendy welcomed us kindly and told us where we should walk and drive on the farm to see the beautiful flowers. What a feast! The house was clean, tidy and very comfortable. It was freezing cold, especially for us who come from a warm world (Hoedspruit), so we finally got a delicious fireplace going. The silence and beautiful view was a delight. We hope to visit Rietry again sometime in the future.

Reception was a bit mixed. The wind is quite persistent, but that's the world's thing. Find the separate cleaning fee strange even though we were told about it beforehand. Can be a bit generous with wood too, especially in winter. Very helpful with advice on visits.

We stayed in the cottage in Aug 2020. Our expectations were exceeded with the cottage. It was very nice inside, and very cozy. There is also a breathtaking view. And it's well secluded.

The place is away from the tarmac which makes it very quiet, and if you want to see stars this is definitely the place for you!
It felt like we were in a dream, so beautiful is the view on the stoep. In case you were wondering, the dirt road is suitable for a normal vehicle. Do not follow Google's directions or you will end up on the 4×4 route. Perfect getaway.

Rietrylaagte is one of those destinations you want to go to if you want to be away from the everyday buzz of the world and detox a little from technology. It's just a long way to drive in to the farm and it's good if you have a vehicle that is tall or can take on sand and stone routes relatively well. The Landscape is absolutely beautiful! a photographer's dream. The hiking trails are breathtaking and the wild animals remain a wow factor. Insects are another story, lol, it's the woods - so take bug repellant and lemon candles for outside. It's a perfect destination for the environment enthusiast. Cell phone reception is literally zero at home and you will have to walk a few km for reception. Detox from technology. Finish your calls and status updates at the gate and enjoy the rest of the visit! My family and I found it extremely challenging, but enjoyed it very much. Thank you Wendy (hostess) for a very welcome reception, communication and quick help if we needed anything.
If you are looking for a place where you can only experience tranquility, this is the place. The accommodation with accessories and sleeping place was five star quality. Combined with the calmness of the surroundings, it is an ideal place to build up your energy again. Recommendations: I would have liked to have seen more information about the 4x4 routes. We went to drive but didn't know if we were trespassing or not.

We were pleasantly surprised when we stepped into our accommodation at Rietrylaagte. Wow! Wow! Wow! Even though I saw the pics before we arrived, it could not prepare me for the absolute comfort and overwhelming beauty of this little farm house! Breathtaking! A piece of heaven in Klawer! Well worth the journey from Cape Town! We were quite adventurous, visited the amazing Nama Bike Club off the R363 for a touch of Mozambique in the middle of nowhere, also drove out to Strandfontein and had the best calamari at the Kommetjie Restaurant and a swim at the tidal pool there! Explored Klawer and all the small dorpies! Best part was coming home to a peaceful Rietrylaagte after all the exploring! It got a bit windy in the evenings, the indoor braai was perfect! The place has everything you could possibly need!
Wendy is certainly the friendliest and most pleasant hostess I have met in years. Patrys, the house in which we slept for 4 nights, is very neat and well equipped. There is everything from toothpicks to insecticide! All you have to take with you is clothes and food. We thought we would use up the two bags of wood offered for sale but hardly used one as it is about a whole tree that was in the bag. The indoor grill is great. House doesn't even smell like smoke after you barbecue because that chimney can smoke! Enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching how hard they work on the farm. The beautifully cultivated fields are a feast for the eyes! Realize again farming is not for sissies! Definitely going there again to recharge my batteries there. When you drive up, you wonder about the little house in the middle of almost nowhere, but what a beautiful accommodation. It's been going for a few years, but als looks brand new and fresh. It's on a working farm, so there's a do's and don'ts list outlining everything. Definitely an asset to the environment.

Very neat self-catering house. What a great getaway weekend for city kids. The house is beautiful and very tidy, the chocolate was a great treat when you walk into the room. The view from the porch is everything you dream of you live in the city. We had a great barbecue in the indoor braai (so smoked a bit until the fire caught fire) and chatted about the day's 4x4 fun, and the beautiful flowers. There are several signs indicating the 4x4 route. We did not feel unsafe for a single moment. This piece of paradise is calling our name. We will definitely be staying here again soon and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get away from modern day technology. Here you come back to the farm. Nice!

My daughter and her family stayed a second day. We thoroughly enjoyed the generous reception, the neat accommodation and the silence and space. A wonderful overnight accommodation at a particularly reasonable price, even for two people it is value for money.

It is a beautiful cottage in a very beautiful area. Everything in the house is neat, clean and comfortable. It is located in a beautiful farm and it would be very nice to have more information about the farm, such as the farm size, the workings of the farm etc. In the brochure in the house we were asked not to litter around the house, so it is quite upsetting to see that the farm itself is littered with plastic, broken pipes, asbestos and even empty poison holders. There are beautiful places to walk to, such a special place for nature lovers.

Beautiful, peaceful farm setting with a nice view. 4x4 routes not clearly marked on farm road, only satellite photos available in house. However, there was no mobile phone reception, the sliding door frame is loose in the frame and no security gates or burglar bars in front of the sliding door/windows. Cold winter evening's use of fireplace/indoor barbecue is a frustration, because if kitchen window and sliding door are not wide open, the smoke fills the whole house. There was also no bottle of fresh water as indicated on communication. Only brackish water available in taps. The owners apparently live elsewhere and could not be easily reached during the stay (no cell phone reception at the cottage). If safety, fireplace problem and personal contact are improved, we can confidently recommend this accommodation.
It is a very beautiful, clean, tidy, peaceful place! We enjoyed ourselves too much and will go back again anytime and will definitely tell all our friends and family about the place!
The little house is very neat and has everything you need. The chocolate was a nice trea. I missed a coffee plunger though. In my opinoin they shouldn't charge a cleaning fee of R150 if you only stayed one night and left the place as spotless as the way you found it.
