15 guests' feedbackThe property is incredibly beautiful and well maintained. It is a peaceful atmosphere with lots of trees and lawns. It definitely advertises tranquility which was very nice.
Increase staff members especially when you have more than 1 event.
Maintenance not good. They removed the old lounge that had old world furniture and was wonderful to sit and have a whiskey, fire place overlooking the river. This all converted into conferencing, so charm destroyed.
WiFi is very weak. DSTV doesn't have the full package, I couldn't watch rugby on 201 or 211.
The room was not very well planned, there was no place for me to blow my hair, they had to bring me a spiel. There was also no fridge in the room. Just after 7 in the morning, a lawnmower woke me up on the Saturday morning. (The phone in the room didn't work either.
There were at least 3 functions going on when we got there. There were empty bottles and cans on the site. In front of the next room there was an ironing board and iron. The wifi didn't start working until the next day. The plug next to the bed was not accessible because the headboard blocked it. There was also no hairdryer in the room. The site looked better the next morning after it was cleaned up.
Good location and service. The entrance (at gate) could be upgraded, does not show well. First impression bad, until you get to the parking area.
Everything you need for your home away from home. Well equipped, everything you need to make your stay comfortable.
The photos of the room types are displayed incorrectly on the website. The honeymoon suite is shown as a deluxe room and the deluxe rooms as standard rooms. This is misleading because you don't get the room type you booked based on the website. I booked a "deluxe" room assuming it looked like the honeymoon suite. The room I got didn't look the same then. I inquired with the hotel management whereupon they pointed out to me that the photos on the website misrepresent the room types.
The coffee machine did not work. We couldn't get the security to wake up to let us in at the gate.
Although the bedding in the room was of high quality, the rest of the maintenance in the rooms was not up to the mark, loose taps, water damage to interior walls, musty smell, etc. Restaurant is poor, R750 for two dry, tasteless steaks and a few chips of potato, a bottle of wine, two waters and a small cheese platter is outrageous. The site at the entrance looks like a dumpsite with piles of construction debris, detracting from the otherwise beautiful gardens. Loud kitchen staff is a nuisance.
Upon arrival the security very unfriendly, immediately made us feel that we do not belong there. There was a function that was very noisy, we were not informed when booking that there was going to be a function, I feel that you pay for peace and quiet and not noise, they could have made us aware of this. A ringing in your ears is definitely not rest. The room next to us was noisy with music and noise until the morning hours, no one did anything about it. We booked a deluxe room but got a standard room, on inquiry I was told the deluxe rooms were fully booked but I paid for it, finally got the right room. The furniture in the room is broken, the air conditioning does not work, the door lock does not work well, when we arrived at the room the room was not locked and it smelled of perfume. The coffee machine was not cleaned from the previous guests who were there, there are no teaspoons to stir the coffee. The premises are indeed very clean and tidy, the bathroom and room were indeed clean and tidy. I feel they can definitely look at the little things that matter. Friendliness at reception is important, and if there are functions then rather close the place for the function, other guests do not want to be disturbed with the noise, and something as small as a teaspoon is important to me.
Beautiful place with old world charm.
We were on our way to our honeymoon overseas and stayed at River Meadow Manor the night before we flew out. We drove from Upington that day and even though we didn't get there until 20:00, we still received a friendly welcome. It was a lovely start to our honeymoon.
Stunning place to have an end of year function and we actually decided to stay the night! We started our morning off with a delicious breakfast next to the fountain, while sitting with the early morning sun on our backs - perfect!
