Friendly service. Beautiful facilities. Hopelessly short lived.
Will definitely stay there again. Tidy. Safe.
Very nice stay. The team at Reveira Hotel are excellent, hospitable and friendly. Our third time there and will always go back.
View is breathtaking, had a great stay.
Firstly, finding the place is tricky because all you get is a street name but no number. I won't lie, even with our car's satnav, it was a struggle. But we did find the place, and thus ends the bad news. Friendly, personable front-of-house staff. The room was spacious and well laid out. Plug points and USB ports are not in short supply, that's for sure. A slight downside would be the location of the fan as it only covers the main bed. Anyone using the secondary beds without a portable USB fan in summer should prepare for an unpleasant sleeping experience. The restaurant offers reasonably priced fare of decent quality. Supper was a highlight, out in the open on a balmy sunset overlooking the gorgeous lagoon. It is a vista forever ingrained in my memory and one I'd gladly come back just to experience all over again.
It was very nice.
Really enjoyed everything.
Biggest disappointment was no free WiFi and poor cellphone reception. Free WiFi should be a given these days, and everywhere we have travelled to has provided it.
We had a very nice stay, all that was not nice for us, for a family of 4 we only got two towels in the family room and there were no bathroom amenities.
We were quite disappointed with the room, large bathroom, no shower. Pillows dirty, floor dirty. WiFi only worked in area around reception. Had a great swim and ate.
We had a nice stay. However, the accommodation could do with some renovations. There were quite a few handles that had been broken off from the drawers in one bedroom as well as on the shower door.
This was the least pleasant part of our trip. The driver's behavior when we arrived was questionable to say the least. The first night everything was calm, but from the next day the waiters quarreled with each other in front of the customers. The driver was nowhere to be found and only appeared sporadically for a short while. You could clearly sense the tension between the groups of waiters.
Very neat accommodation. Well located. There is not enough parking only in the evenings, so make sure you park your vehicle early to get a parking space.
Our stay was very pleasant and there was really nothing we could complain about. We were surprised with the Hotel's accommodation.
We loved our stay in the hotel, the place was really clean, unfortunately, there was no WI-FI and the kitchen sink was dripping the whole time, which could be so annoying at night time, but overall I think the place is worth the money if you are going as a family.
Recommendation regarding our room: The TV was out of order but they offered to move us to another room which we declined as we only stayed 1 night. The bathroom door does not want to open and you struggle a bit with the shower's water adjustment, very hot or very cold. However, these are small things and I only mention them for you. You might consider adding muesli, fruit salad and yogurt to your breakfast menu.
Friendly service and room was well appointed.
Quiet area and Hartenbos is always a winner. The hotel's food itself was delicious and service good. We just weren't aware exactly what our hotel room was going to look like. One assumes all rooms have a shower and sea view (river view). I would recommend telling future guests to ask exactly what the hotel room looks like.
The hotel rooms need good cleaning. The cleaners do not clean the cups and saucers and glasses very much in the rooms and are only rinsed.
Reception staff are rude. Pre-paid power was finished and we were without power from 23h00 to 08h45. Toilet paper and dish soap supply pathetic, it's better to provide it yourself. Unity's tiles are light and can definitely be redone. Living room couches worn and dirty. This is definitely not 4 star accommodation. We were very disappointed.
Beautiful view of the lagoon and sea.
Very nice! Walking distance from where you want to be. Very neat and clean. Very friendly staff.
It was very nice. Clean, and well received.
Enjoyable stay. Would visit there again.
Was kindly received and very helpful.
First they only had record of one room and not two. Lights in our hallway only worked one night. Had to help my parents who are in their 70s with my cell phone for lighting. On the ad it said there was a restaurant, but it never said they close at 7pm in the evening. Room never cleaned - not even given option. One room's bathtub was still dirty from the previous people who stayed there (bath ring). In the evening there was no one on duty to report problems to. What we got was not worth the money. They are not 4 star. They only had sports and KykNet TV channel.
I was very disappointed because according to advertisement we booked for self-catering and Riviera received reservation for hotel suite. Many thanks to Riviera. They devised a plan for us and were able to move us to a self-catering unit the next day.
The hotel was clean and tidy. The food was excellent and prices very reasonable. Staff were friendly.
The staff, management and service are friendly and good.
Beautiful location, most beautiful view of the river.
Unfortunately their rooms are old and need an upgrade.
No garbage bin in bathroom. No fridge. Not even a plate or a knife. Stayed in Starboard Unit 5. Sink tap makes a huge noise. Only the cold tap works at te sink. The shower door panels are all loose. Price does not even include breakfast!
It was so nice and quiet, nobody bothers you. You come and go as you please. Place was neat and clean every day. We would stay there again anytime and recommend it to other people as well.
Friendly reception. Listened and acted after complaints were made about residents next door who were involved in house moles. They were not there next night.
The rooms are neat and spacious, you can relax in a peaceful environment.
Poor room photos are not like the in reality. Rooms are also dirty. Shower falls out of each other.
The pictures showing the view of the hotel are very deceiving. We expected a room with a view of the river, but were placed in a room at the rear of the building, looking onto a parking lot. When we were led to our back room by a male employee, I was not helped with my 2 heavy luggage pieces. Lighting is practically non-existent. Struggled to make a cup of coffee in darkness. No door on the shower. When we checked out the following morning, service was very unfriendly. We were not greeted at all, we were not asked how our stay was. The receptionist just told us how much we owed, gave us a receipt and turned her back. We felt like we were invisible and felt very unwelcome. Not one of the staff or management greeted us on arrival, during our stay, or on checking out. Will never go back.
The place's service was bad upon arrival. The room was not up to standard at all. What is advertised, they do not offer at all. I would not advise anyone to stay there.
When I phoned reception to find the hotel, they were very rude and unfriendly. Then when I arrived, same thing happened. The only friendly face around the hotel was the concierge. When I opened my sheets, there ware stains and long hair. I’m a short haired guy.
The first impression of the customer service was unfriendly reception staff. One feels unwelcome. It is not value for money. They have to pay me to stay there. Never again. Rotten, dirty benches from years of neglect. A freezing cold room with a heater that was literally broken in half, just lying on one side, so we couldn't heat the room. Hair on the towels, must have been old towels. The photos on the website give you a wrong perception of what you think you will get. It felt like I was being pushed into a nursing home's room. No views, but views are shown on the website. Ice cold, dark room. We didn't have WiFi. When I make a reservation, I want to know what I will get in my room and what it will look like. This is a rotten, disgusting place and people who need to learn how to work with customers.
Staff very enthusiastic about their work and how they help customers. Friendly, cheerful and makes you feel like one of the family. As a solo traveler I felt safe in the Hotel. The "Jet-Master" tub was an absolute winner! Rooms are large and comfortable. Bedding neat and clean. Mattress of the best! They just sometimes forgot to turn on the 2nd floor lights in the hallway and I had to struggle in the dark to unlock the room door. However, was impressed with their effort to save on unnecessary electricity consumption.
Riviera Hotel is the place to stay. Will recommend it any day. They had everything, from the friendliest staff, to the most delicious food and drink.
See stars.
The administration around the reservation for the stay and follow-up reminders had been an absolute bonus. It was fantastic to be served by young staff in our home language. Continue like this. Will definitely go back to the area. However, parking was limited.
I had a great stay. Everything was peaceful after a long day on the road. Hotal staff were very friendly. My room was very tidy. And the bed was a dream. Thanks so much Riviera Hotel.
Very helpful and the rooms are beautiful and tidy. View of the lagoon fantastic. Meals were great. Staff all very friendly and problems are quickly resolved.
Our first room (Nr. 1 - not part of the hotel's main building) was neat but very hot. Lighting can be better. I then asked for a room with an aircon or better ventilation and we were friendly accommodated and moved to a room in the hotel's main building with an aircon.
Original room a big disappointment. Looks like a garage converted to a room! Friendly receptionist was able to happily upgrade us to a s/c unit which was lovely. We had to pay extra, but it was worth it. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Staff something special!
The unit we stayed in (family room) was filthy and the wall plugs were broken. Overall it is not at all up to standard for a 4 star hotel. After we left, I inquired about my daughter's slippers that had been left there. The manager learned to make a note in the diary and give feedback - a week later I called again, then no one knew anything either - 2 weeks later I inquired again, and still no one knows anything. I am very unhappy about this episode because the last place where the slippers were was in the room and now nobody knows anything. This is a R300 loss that no one worries about.
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The unit we stayed in was very dirty, we found old broken crayons and stickers on the floor left by previous guests. The floors look like they were cleaned last year and the bathroom was dirty with the shower missing a door panel.
Room was dark. Carpets were dirty. Bathroom was dirty and toilet handle did not work. Really not good quality linen or towels. Will not return again.
The room we booked was very disappointing. It was dirty, the curtains were skew, the tiles in the bathroom were dirty, I did not even want to touch the shower door. Towels haven't been white for years and their smell was unacceptable. We always go to the ATKV cottages, if we do not camp, but because it was my birthday, we decided to treat ourselves to a hotel. I didn't feel treated at all.
Both the apartments and the rooms were dirty, the one even had pieces of glass on the floor, The bedding had stains on, not even to mention the couches - it was filthy. The shower tiles was full of mould - when you look at the rest of the tiles, you can see the place just needs a good clean! At the braai areas the chairs and tables were full of dust, cobwebs and bird droppings. The grass around the swimming pool and in the courtyard is beautiful and one can see it's well looked after. But the rooms I would not recommend.
It's not what you see on the website. Very poor service. The place is not up to standard and it's not clean. Poor security, so you will not be safe.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Stunning place. Thank you for the good service.
Thanks so much to Riviera Hotel Hartenbos. And thanks to Awie Dreyer! You blessed us!
Arriving at the Riviera was a nice surprise. What I found there was exactly as shown on the website. Self care works for me and I got exactly what I wanted. Thank you all.
The hotel rooms are spacious and comfortable. There are certain items in the bathroom that needs attention. The outside units need upgrading, it looks like a 2 star unit somewhere on the way to Pietersburg. TV specifically is the old box TV from the 2000's. Have they never heard of LED's? These units are really neglected and these are the units the guests have to be satisfied with. Food in the restaurant was tasty and they serve good portions.
Room could do with some renovation - especially bathroom.
I slept very soundly and I would recommend it to anyone.
We were the only guests the Sunday evening. There were no restaurants open. It is far from the beach and not worth the money you pay for the accommodation.
Pretty, quiet, clean and friendly service.
These people surprised me - from the enquiry, to the check-in and the check-out and everything in between! I have acquired refreshing new ideas for my writing here!
Would definitely recommend Riviera Hotel Hartenbos. It was a peaceful, lovely week. You are hospitable and very helpful! Clean and very neat! Thank you very much for that (I usually get away with it, but this time I can't complain). It was very good and the gardens very neat!
We would definately use them in future again. The carpets and couches are very dirty, but the linen and bedding was clean and we slept like babies. Thank you, LekkeSlaap, your service was immaculate!
Friendly welcome. Alternative accommodation offered on function in the hall.
Everything was as advertised. Large and spacious rooms that are well equipped.
Room was neat. Placement of double bed inconvenient and service from restaurant very slow, but the reception was nice and friendly and quick.
The accommodation and food were good.
Large room, lovely hot tub, friendly and helpful staff. A large hot tub with enough space for 2, the staff are friendly and helpful.
We checked in late Friday night, without any problem. Clean rooms, excellent security and parking. Kids played rugby in George, but we will have to come back and spend more time in Hartenbos and at Riviera!
Nice surroundings with neat buildings. Friendly staff and very helpful.
The staff were very friendly and attentive, which is a huge plus in my eyes. The rooms could do with a bit of work - or at least be prepared for incoming guests a bit more. The pool and bar area are amazing and festive. Had a lovely stay overall. Will definitely stay there again if we ever travel to Mossel Bay again.
It is a bit difficult for international guests to check in when the Hotel's reception closes at 18:00. The caretaker lives on the premises, but no telephone number (other than cell numbers) is provided. The hotel offers a good breakfast at good prices and is walking distance from the sea. It is ideal for a good break and visit.
We spent 5 nights at the Riviera & would recommend shorter stays. Rooms are spacious, but very dark and felt it could have at least had a bar fridge. Will stay over again but only as an overnight stop.
Staff can put in a better effort on the arrival of guests - such as informing them of facilities, parking allocation as well as the daily services they provide. The place we stayed in wasn't the cleanest, as cutlery was dirty from previous people and there is a major lack in cutlery. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay overall, as it's a lovely location and a beautiful hotel.
Would have liked to take a bath, but the bath plug was "missing". Old bedding and bed.
I stayed in the hotel suites. It was like my second honeymoon!
