Nice quiet and peaceful.
Many thanks Alta for the friendly reception and helpfulness, as well as extra sleeping space for my daughter. Definitely worth it! We had a lovely hot shower and a warm sleep. Would love to pack your pointer and take it with you, but space is a bit tight (ha ha).
We had a great stay, the hostess was very friendly.
We had a great time and were kindly received and in contact with Alta (hostess) all the time via WhatsApp about what we were doing, she gives good advice for trips. Can go to the farm to have a picnic along the Orange River or in the summer to barbecue and visit by the swimming pool. Got fresh towels and a clean room every day. Great service. Thanks to everyone, we'll see you again.
Even though it was advertised as self catering, there were no utensils or stove/hotplate for cooking.
Farm gives the opportunity to walk between vineyards and alfalfa fields to the Orange River.
We were received by the hostess herself who was very nice. Provision is also made for load shedding.
Everything you might need was thought of including essential backup for power outages. Not only was everything comfortable and clean for a good night's rest but the farm surrounds next to the river provided a beautiful natural setting to explore and enjoy.
Thank you for accommodating our large group. We had a wonderful stay in this place that felt like home. Alta is a good host with excellent communication skills.
Upon our arrival, the hostess met us and immediately adjusted our sleeping space to help us with easy access. The dogs accompanied us to the river for a nice leg stretch after 9 hours of driving.
The guest house was neat and clean. Spacious units and the pool and garden are very nice. Beautiful setting among the orchards and vineyards in the river valley.

The venue is just 10 km from Upington town and the airport even nearer. My granddaughter graduated from AEL just down road, so we drove down for her Graduation Ceremony, which was a perfect opportunity to see the campus. The rooms, bedding, bathroom and kitchen are in excellent condition. A dream destination for any family traveling with teenagers. Ruimland Gastehuise boasts a perfect garden, braai area, super clean grounds and a swimming pool. A dream home away from home. Alta was the best. Thank you sincerely for your hospitality.
Hostess immediately made us feel at home, and not overbearing in company. Room and bathroom clean and tidy. Load capacity not a problem, safe and swimming pool spotless.
We had a great stay at Ruimland and would recommend it. The peaceful farm setting is perfect for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Friendly service and value for money.
Our room was beautifully appointed. It was small, but very practically designed. Well equipped too. We just missed a view. Fortunately there was a pool area with a barbecue area to enjoy. It was also lovely to go for a walk on the farm with the owners' dogs.

We drove very late from Johannesburg and only arrived very late at the guest house, after 9 hours on the road with two small children it was a "breath of fresh air" to be welcomed with such kindness. The guesthouse was amazing and exactly what we needed. We recommend this accommodation to anyone. Thank you very much for your place, it was great.
Nice farm atmosphere. Safe walking path to river. Neat swimming pool to relax in. Pleasant, friendly hostess who quickly makes you feel at home.
We booked on short notice, and it was no problem. Everything was nicely arranged via WhatsApp that we could get in etc. Cottage is perfect for 1 night or even more. Aircons work very well! Everything is very nice clean and tidy. Not unnecessary frills and things.

There was a door between our room and the one next door, which was not very private and we could hear talking and coughing from the room next door.
Can definitely recommend Ruimland. Will always stay there if we are in the Upington area.

Quiet and neat farm stay. River is close enough, although one cannot see the river from guesthouse. River peaceful and shallow. Our kids had a great time swimming and we had great time braaiing next to the river. Nice open and clean next to river.

This is the second time we have used Ruimland as a stopover on the way home, and once again we were not disappointed. Alta, the owner, contacted us in advance to confirm our arrival time and as always the accommodation was of high quality, neat, clean and very comfortable, even biscuits to help with your coffee. Alta received us personally, kindly and ensured that everything was right for us and that we were satisfied. Would recommend the place for a nice rest before driving further and even for longer to explore the area. Thank you very much again.

Very friendly landlady received us when we arrived and took us through the room and explained everything to us, such as how TVs work, etc. Rooms etc. were very clean and tidy and emphasis was placed on finer details. Nice and quiet and safe there. There were even nice biscuits put out with our coffee.
The intention behind renting out these houses is very distant, impersonal and businesslike. Not something one would expect from young people. In addition, the layout is such that the porch in front of the houses offers no privacy and no view either. Perhaps our expectations were too high, but for us it is not recommended.
Arrived at Ruimland much later than we had originally planned. Our hosts were very helpful in making contact with us concerning our time of arrival and directions. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We arrived at 6pm from a long journey with the prospect of another long day on the road the next day. Although we arrived later than the official arrival time, Alta was there shortly after our arrival to make sure everything was ok. The rooms are spacious and very neat. We used the available facilities and enjoyed a delicious barbecue to end our holiday.
It was lovely to stay in the well equipped and very clean and tidy unit - we would love to stay there again in the future.
We were very pleasantly surprised with Upington and Ruimland and plan to definitely spend the night there again in the future. The accommodation was clean, tidy and comfortable and the fishing down by the river top notch.
