19 guests' feedbackWe always have a good time at San Lameer. It would have been even better to have porridge bowls in the unit.
San Lameer was fantastic, however Villa 2001 needs some serious upgrades. The rooms smell mouldy, the couch is falling apart, the stove plates are dirty. I do accept that it was a cheap room versus the majority of others.
No — was worst possible experience. Worst we have ever had. The furniture is not up to an acceptable standard. The sofas are either you sit on a thin plank beam or fall into the sofa's elaborate sponge. Extremely uncomfortable. The beds are also of such a standard that one cannot sleep on them. To give an idea before the holiday was over we asked the children if we couldn't go home instead. We decided not to enter the new year in negativity and instead packed up and went home. Best decision ever to drive instead and not stay there any longer. Will definitely never visit this unit again. Extremely disappointed and expected more from the website.
Kitchen a bit small. Braaier could also do better. Other than that we are 100% happy.
Lots to do, definitely need to spend enough time there to enjoy everything.

Accommodation was adequate. A little old and worn, however, the location is beautiful and the estate is well run.
The second bedroom has no fan. This in one of the areas with how humidity. Not the unit's fault, but for 4 days the estate was doing repairs on water/sewer pipes right by our porch, so very disturbing, no privacy, as well as a smell. Living room: suggest TV needs to be replaced. Feel like you are sitting on wooden planks. Guests above us also had small children, so we also heard furniture being moved all the time above us. Not a nice experience at all this time.
I am not happy at all with the unit we booked into. The photos you are advertising is not the current photos. This unit is very old and not in a good condition. This Villa is not maintained at all. We only spent 1 x night in this unit and we all felt extremely sick from the mold smell. We checked out at 17:50 on Saturday night. The aircon water pipe was dripping in the middle of the walk way at the braai area. The bathroom light switch is faulty and has been for along time I think. The fridge was missing shelves in the door. The walls are full of holes and the couch can not be sat on at all. The Kitchen cupboards are old and need to be replaced. None of the bedrooms have proper ventilation and the unit is extremely stuff and smells like mold. I do advise that the website doesn't advertise this unit. The owners need to do something about this. Very unhappy that I paid for a place in should bad condition.
When we arrived the floors had not been swept or mopped, so by the time the children got into bed (after bathing) their feet were already black again. We then cleaned the unit ourselves. With small children you have to wash and dry clothes regularly, but the tumble dryer was broken. When we arrived the machine was not connected, which makes you think someone knew it was out of order. A technician got it to work temporarily, but it broke again almost immediately. The tumble dryer was indeed replaced a day later. The DSTV remote control clearly had too many miles on it and was taped together. Even a new set of batteries couldn't get the broken thing to work. The bath was fitted with an adjustable shower head attached to the wall, but the clamp was broken. The result is that the shower only sprays in one place, right above the faucet. This makes for an awkward showering process seeing as you have to stand over the faucet to get wet. Even after it was reported nothing was done about it. There is a water leak somewhere in the bathroom. The origin is either on the faucet that feeds the toilet or the pipe to the sink faucet, because the bathroom floor was always wet. Even after it was reported nothing was done about it. The living room's one window has been painted over, so it cannot open. Even after it was reported nothing was done about it. The one cupboard door in the kitchen was broken. The bottom hinge is pulled out and the remaining hinge is on its end. Many of the cabinet doors' films (laminates) are starting to peel and come off and can be compared to what one would expect from a 1-star unit. Please note that the gutter on the porch was damaged by deer monkeys during our time there. The result is that there is continuous water dripping on the stop of the unit above the one. This has been reported but with the condition of the unit I am not confident that it will be addressed before the next guests check in. We are extremely disappointed in the condition of the unit, the pulp is definitely not worth the gravy.
The 1st night we slept in our car. Tried calling, no one answered. Wrong wi-fi password they gave us.
The booking was a flawless process, very happy with this.
Toilet did not flush properly but quickly repaired once reported. Really enjoyed our stay.

Many reviews on the website complain about the condition of the unit. Repeatedly, Top Destinations gave assurances that everything was fixed, but this was not the case. Poor communication between Top Destinations and the website.
Very nice holiday, was lovely to be so close to the pool, but the villa's braai facilities were not nice, there is no chimney and the smoke goes into the house. The main bedroom's bed is uncomfortable, old and worn out. The room with the bunk beds' leather is loose, making it very dangerous for children.
Everything very nice. Strand just one day unfortunately had human waste which we dropped off. We really liked San Lameer and there is a lot to keep the kids busy. We would like to go there again. However, we were concerned because the majority of houses did not seem to be well maintained. There were giant cockroaches in our little house which also made us sleep a little restless. We were very grateful for the air con in the cottage because it was very hot.
Apart from the shower not working 100%, we had a fantastic weekend.
It was a holiday to remember at Sanlameer, the accommodation was completely adequate for our family, walking distance from the swimming pool on the resort, plenty of play space for the children, beautiful wildlife to look at. Everyone at the resort is very helpful and there are many activities to do without leaving the resort.

All December and January bookings should be paid one month prior to arrival. No payments can be made at the estate and should be settled before arrival.

Cancellations:

South Africa is experiencing consistent load-shedding affecting all areas, including the South Coast. In the past, San Lameer has had occasions whereby the Eskom breakers in Marina Beach tripped and left the estate without power for a day. We are not able to predict these events and this is out of our control. Please come prepared. Beaches are influenced by weekly tests to determine if it is safe to swim or not and we can not guarantee that the beach will be open for swimming. The UGU Municipality does have seasonal problems with water supply in the South Coast, which might influence your stay. Although San Lameer has boreholes and reserve tanks, they are still reliant on the supply of the municipality. It is very important to note that we can't control or predict their water supply but will notify our guests should there be an expected problem. We can unfortunately not provide refunds on these instances and advise guests to take the matter up with the related supplier of the service, or alternatively do not book the unit.
