The most amazing location with wide views of the Karoo countryside as you walk out of the door. We stayed in Karoo Cottage, one of three, slightly set away from the other two.

This is something else. When you drive up the road, you think it's just a few old buildings standing there on the plain, until you get there. Then your wildest thought is surpassed. Amazing places to call home. I want to keep it all to myself because this is also a small discovery.
This is a real gem, set in a beautiful part of the Karoo. It is a place to really unwind and absorb the tranquil atmosphere. We sat outside and witnessed a fantastic sunset. Unfortunately, we had clouds, but there is a telescope for you to look at the stars, which must be amazing from this position. It is close to a typical Karoo koppie - great for stretching your legs after a long drive. The chalet itself is very comfortable with a nicely equipped kitchen. The host is a gracious and gives very nice instructions on getting there, etc.

On a two-week tour through the North West and Northern Cape, Sand River was my favourite. Through clever planning, everything one needs has been fitted into a compact space. The shower was lovely and the bed a great pleasure. The owner communicated continuously and gave very clear information to get into all the gates.
Sandrivier was a lovely place to overnight. The cottages face the open countryside and mountains which is breathtaking. The French Flair cottage was tastefully decorated, spacious, comfortable and had everything one would need to make your stay comfortable and convenient. I will definitely recommend Sandrivier Gasteplaas to anyone.
The surroundings are peaceful and the rooms are nice and cozy in the winter.
After a terrible day's journey from Sutherland in the rain, 350km of dirt roads, this was a gem to arrive at. Was able to grill nice Karoo chops and sleep well in a very neat and clean place. Everything you need is there. Unfortunately couldn't stargaze, but the rain and view were also absolutely worth it.

The guest house is a gem and we were able to make a fire and grill some meat before the rain overtook us. It's beautifully situated with a nice view of a field and mountain in the background which made for a nice photo in the late afternoon. Would love to stay there again!

The guest house has the most beautiful view over the Karooveld and is equipped with everything one could need (although a gas heater for the winter months would be a bonus). It's neat and clean and I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

We wanted to experience the tranquility of the Karoo and really enjoyed it. Biked and birdwatched and got some new types for our list. We felt very much at home and the owner went out of her way to accommodate us.
Beautifully decorated accommodation in the middle of the Karoo. Peace and quiet only 6km's from town. It really was the most perfect location to completely relax, the pool was clean, and refreshing and the attention to detail in the cottage was exceptional. Solar & gas also meant you did not need to check the load shedding timetable. This place was a real treat.

The accommodation is very basic, worked well for a one night stay, but would not want to stay more than one night. The house is cramped and basic. The power is just basic with solar panels and batteries which means that only the fridge, lights and mobile phones can run on them through the night. If you now want to use the second bedroom (because we are two people) then all of a sudden these are extra costs. We don't understand how it works, one pays for the whole place. Furthermore, it is very beautiful there, and the people are very friendly.

Sand River Guest Farm is nice and private with a beautiful Karoo view and atmosphere. Only negative is the shower which is either too hot or too cold and difficult to adjust (probably to do with solar system).

This place is perfection. We did a "road trip" from Pretoria to the Cape and stayed at a few places and this place stands head and shoulders above the rest. We were really pleasantly surprised. Of all of them it was the most remote, but also the very best furnished - tasteful, neat, clean, with absolutely everything one might need (only thing I would possibly add is a "plunger" because we have our own coffee rode along, but not a "plunger"). But other than that, wow, we were impressed and will go again tomorrow. I recommend far and wide.

As people who often camp or stay in self-catering - you rarely find a house/cottage that meets all your expectations and also self-catering needs. Sand River is all that. Very well and nicely furnished, clean, with lots of attention to necessary detail and super hospitality on top of that! And as a bonus the stars, silence and space.

We had a great time. Children really enjoyed having the freedom to explore. The cottage is very comfortably furnished, close enough to the town for anything you might need, but far enough that you can enjoy the silence and openness.
There was wood available at an extra charge which was very convenient. The shower struggled, water switched between hot and then no water. We also slept wonderfully.
The only thing that I would change is to supply some fans, it's very hot. The rest is perfect!

The camping site is neat and clean. The area is located between hills that create the most beautiful picture at dusk. The swimming pool is the real bonus for those hot days. Site very basic, on gravel, no shelter from wind, ablutions good and clean, no fireplace for campers, but hosts very friendly and accommodating as allowed us to pitch tent on cottage patio for shelter from the wind.

The hostess's personality is the icing on the cake because she had so much empathy when she heard that I had surrendered my life partner to death.
