The Camdeboo National Park is located in the Karoo and almost completely surrounds the Eastern Cape town of Graaff-Reinet. Formed hundreds of millions of years ago, the Karoo of South Africa is one of the great natural wonders of the world. Camdeboo National Park provides the visitor with insights into the unique landscape and ecosystem of the Karoo, not to mention awesome scenic beauty.

Camdeboo National Park's accommodation is situated on the floodplains of the Nqweba Dam and accessed via the Lakeview Gate on the N9 towards Middleburg. This area is part of the Park's game viewing area which is home to buffalo, antelope such as gemsbok, eland, red hartebeest and springbok, smaller mammals such as black-backed jackal, and many bird species.

With an estimated 100,000 people who visit this site each year, the Valley of Desolation is a premier tourist attraction in the region.

There are a number of 4x4 routes that can be explored in both the eastern and western sections of the Park. Day visitors are welcome and can make use of various attractions such as the Valley of Desolation, game viewing area, and a number of picnic sites.

A standard daily conservation fee of R150 for foreign visitors, R100 for SADC nationals with a valid passport, and R50 for South African Citizens and Residents with ID, will be required on entry to the park.

Gate opening times vary from 06h00 to 07h00 depending on season.
Gate closing times vary from 18h00 to 20h00 depending on season.
Please check with the SANParks office for current times.

The use of drones inside (and over) our national parks is strictly prohibited.

The campsite has a communal self-catering kitchen that features a stove, microwave, and a deep freezer. The campsites have use of communal ablution facilities with showers and toilets. Extra vehicles are charged an additional fee per night.

Each tent sleeps 2 people and contains 2 single beds, a patio with a table and 2 chairs, and a braai facility. The tents have shared use of communal ablutions with showers and toilets. The tents have shared use of a communal self-catering kitchen that is equipped with a stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, and cooking and eating utensils. There is also a communal braai area for group use.
