The stay was superb. It's quiet and peaceful. An ideal opportunity and destination to get away to reboot one's system. A chance to step out of the incessant race of life.

I only had to change the gas bottle when we needed hot water the first night. The toaster and the kettle didn't always want to turn on when the buttons were pressed, but with difficulty it did work - maybe pay attention to that. Otherwise, the stay and atmosphere was amazing.
I would definitely go back.

Special environment and well appointed house. Everything you need to escape the hustle and bustle.
The cottage has all the necessary facilities and is wonderfully rustic. It is very private in the riparian woods of the Vaal River with a great variety of bird sounds throughout the day. We made a fire in the fireplace ourselves, because it was bitterly cold after the rain. The bed is extremely comfortable and you sleep wonderfully in the dark. We can heartily recommend the place.

We wanted to do the walking trail, but it was not indicated where the trail was. There is not enough fishing ground for a group of people. You are not getting the value for your money.

We stayed as a family over Christmas in Kollegerus and Doppruim. The houses are both well furnished, neat and clean. The surroundings are peaceful and we really enjoyed the nature. Highly recommended!
Excellent location, very safe and peaceful. Enjoyed the horses and sheep as guests. Ideal place to enjoy the peace and beauty of nature en it is still just a stone's throw from Potchefstroom. Decor in Doppruim is beautiful!
The place is very nice, but the following was a problem: The braai facilities outside were not good at all and we struggled terribly with them. I wish someone had said that you couldn't fish there because of the opening of the locks. I specifically asked about it just before we booked because as there is no pool it was the only entertainment for my children. It would also have saved me time not to pack everything. You are also not allowed to walk at the other places, because they are private. The people also blew a vuvuzela next door very early in the mornings which woke us up. The place is not very clean inside either. It was terrible dust. The owner is a lovely woman, so it's a shame that everything was so inconvenient for us.
I've stayed at a few placed in the area and Schoemanshof is one of the best. The house has a beautiful boma, it's well-equipped and clean.
We had the most wonderful stay. The unit was well-equipped with all the thoughtful things you might need. It was private and the most restful weekend that was needed. The host sent us all the information we needed, even the weather forecast. I would recommend them to anybody and hope to stay there again.

We thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Kruisbessie. It is neat, private, peaceful and everything you need is there. I would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful holiday/weekend break. The men had a good time fishing and although it rained from time to time we were able to sit under cover on the deck and also use the built-in braai on the deck which is also under cover. Will definitely go there again.

Great service! Well a shortage of roof fans. Monkeys can be troublesome and therefore the windows must be kept closed at all times. One should definitely stay there for longer than a weekend!
Great weekend getaway. Not too far from Pretoria and close to Paris for a day trip. A nice relaxed stay with a peaceful atmosphere.
Perfect for someone who loves nature. Good privacy, quite a distance from any of the other living units, with a braai area right in front of the unit. On a quiet night you can hear the river running over the rocks when you are barbecuing outside, which was very nice for me. Will definitely visit again! Definitely suggest it.
We will definitely use Schoemanshof again when we attend NAMPO again next year. The tranquillity is a blessing and the scenery is beautiful. The owner was very friendly and gave us all of the information about the security codes before hand. The chocolate and cappuccinos were a pleasant surprise. See you again soon.

It was a lovely break. The house is beautiful and was perfect for the seven of us. The kitchen is very well equipped and the bathrooms lovely. It's clean and 'funky' (artistic). Elizabeth came to help us in the mornings and was very nice. The setting was so quiet and beautiful. The men could fish every day and I rowed for hours. The outdoor hangout area is very special and we had a lovely bushveld television (fire) every evening with the beautiful starry splendor! It was our privilege to visit this amazing place and can't wait to go again!
If you want to rest and just relax, this is the place to be.
Really enjoyed, the stay was fantastic. Suggestion: clear small areas by the river to put up an umbrella for a nice walk by the river. I caught 8 yellowfish on the fly rod as well as a 14 kg carp on corn kernels.

It's on a farm. Drive through the cattle. Along the Vaal River. Breathtaking nature experience. Closest to God one can get. Stone farmhouse. Old fireplace stove etc. The one sink is an old zinc wash dish. Comfortable and neat and clean. Well appointed. Boma outside with a fridge and fire place.

What a beautiful place - I would never have dreamed that such a piece of paradise existed barely 30 km from Potchefstroom! We appreciated the distance from the other cottages - it felt like we were staying alone in this beautiful place! The cottage is very well equipped, and there really isn't anything we needed that wasn't there! And the decor was very special, with antiques like the most beautiful old coal stove. The arrangements were also very good - no lengthy check-in procedure. There are very few places where one can relax so wonderfully within a weekend. All of us loved this place, and would love to visit again soon! Cleanliness was given four stars, as the sheets on the single beds were stained and the cutlery was not clean enough. Other than that, everything was very clean and tidy. Thank you very much, we thoroughly enjoyed the weekend!

Peaceful, nice to relax away from job. Only MTN no reception so not able to read on my tablet or receive calls. Therefore not able to contact owner for code of gate.
I was pleasantly surprised at the cottage and the layout and cleanliness of the venue. We only had an issue of where the borders for fly fishing were. I had an unfortunate fall in the boma and dislocated my elbow and the only thing I would suggest to the venue is that they put up addresses or phone numbers for the casualties in Potchefstroom - in a prominent place as it was a mission to find somewhere late at night in a panic. I would definitely return and recommend it to friends and even after my fall we had a pleasant stay for the rest of the weekend.
It's a beautiful place in the dome. The biggest attraction for me was the idea of peace and quiet. Because the houses are located so far apart, each guest feels as if they are alone on the farm, so one can expect total silence. Unfortunately, the weekend we were there, there were guests about two houses away from us. They played loud music all weekend (I mean literally Friday night until late and again Saturday morning early until late at night) and it was very disturbing. What amazes me is that the owners allow it! How can the owners watch as a certain element spoils their entire farm and atmosphere. I was quite disappointed in their level of interest.
It was more than we expected. We still long for our time there and would love to go back for another weekend. It was definitely one of our most enjoyable short vacations yet. We have already recommended a large group to go there and plan to go together as a group.
The stay was wonderful. I did not find the owners very friendly. We had no water on Saturday morning. I had to connect with them and expected more from them. But the house and amenities and weekend were really worth it.
