Guests can choose from 8 private off-the-grid campsites spread out around the nearly 300-year-old oak tree. There is an option between sunny or shaded campsites, with most having their own water points. Eco-friendly compost toilets and hot water showers with traditional wood-fired donkey water heaters are available for ablutions.
Simonskloof features small rock pools, hiking trails, mountain biking trails, and guided outdoor activities such as canyoning, wilderness trekking, and abseiling are on offer. The owners have created the Gecko Trail, a 60 km long network of hiking trails leading up the mountains and down into deep gorges. This trail has become part of the roughly 750 km long Rim of Africa, Africa’s toughest and longest mountain traverse.
