57 guests' feedbackWe loved our stay! Such a beautiful house, the detail in decor is stunning. The house has everything you need. We loved the outside pool and fire pit area. Will definitely be back!
Was stunning! Will definitely visit Stone Lodge again, layout and accommodation exceptional!
When I die and go to heaven I hope it's like Stone Lodge.
We had such a wonderful time. Thank you! The house and location is just perfect. We were so thankful for the immediate action that was taken when the vehicle was acting up, and another one was supplied immediately. Also, when there was a problem with the water, it was attended to as a matter of urgency. The communication with us as visitors was first class. We will definitely be back.
The accommodation is fantastic, the rooms are spacious with great views. The utilities were great too, the ice machine a welcome friend in the heat. Our host was amazing, communicating almost instantly with any question. The stay was fleeting but so enjoyable. We had international guests that loved every moment.
This was our second stay ar Stone Lodge and certainly not our last. We really enjoy staying here every time.
What an amazing stay at Stone Lodge!
Sometimes you order fish and chips, and you know what you're getting. At Stone Lodge you not only get tomato sauce, but 3 T-bones, 4 salads and then some ice cream too. Amazing service, amazing staff and incredibly well equipped. The attention to detail is not unnoticed. Almost felt like someone else's home. Thank you very much. We will go again.
Stone Lodge is amazingly beautiful and we had a great time - it is much bigger than it looks in the photos with space for Africa!. The only thing that needs to be taken into account is that the 16 km from reception / spa is equal to a 40 min drive. There is not an incredible amount of wildlife in the area, you have to drive +/-45 min to see wildlife at Itaga. Despite that, we really enjoyed it and had a great stay.
Beautiful place! Peaceful and private. Sociable. Most beautiful sunsets.
The place was huge and much more than we expected. I'm coming back again with my family.
It was our second visit to Stone Lodge and it was as good as the first time. I will definitely go back again!
Great stay at the lodge. Have a nice relax.
Stone Lodge is beautifully appointed and perfectly equipped for a fantastic getaway in the bush, just a short drive from Johannesburg. The staff were amazing, and all facilities were tasteful and comfortable.
Stone Lodge was a privilege to stay in. Large rooms, large meeting area and friendly communication before, during and after our visit. Will stay there again for sure. We took the back road which saved us about 45 min.
Beautiful house! Silver clean, we can't wait to pop in again. Many thanks to everyone at Stone Lodge who made our visit there unforgettable. We really had a wonderful rest and can only wow and wow! Thank you Stone Lodge. See you again soon.
We absolutely loved our stay — the lodge is incredible. The finishing touches highlight the luxury of the lodge and the lodge is so large you have so much space which is great for a trip with couples. The amenities are extensive, with the kitchen and the baths being the highlights of our stay. It feels incredibly private and you really do get away from it all as a holiday should be. We were incredibly impressed by the lodge.
Game walks around the lodge. Beautiful nature. It was cloudless and we could clearly see the Milky Way. The staff is friendly and available if needed.
Stone Lodge is a lovely house that has all the facilities one needs and more! Love that the rooms are all away from one another so everyone has their space and privacy. The road to get there is a little bumpy but we liked the location of the house as it felt remote. It was awesome to be able to rent the game drive vehicle as we really got to be one with nature. Tanya and Petro were always available to answer questions and assist.
Beautiful place, will come back again.
The house was stunning and spacious and had all the necessities. There were clear signs up regarding no smoking, no music and loud noises but nowhere notifying guests that the water is operated by pumps and that during loadshedding there are no backup systems and no water supply to the property.
Charged us 50% of vehicle use after we hardly left the lodge on Sunday and they asked us to come back immediately, which we did. They said they needed the car to fetch staff, however, there was a second game viewer. They seem to do anything to try to keep some of the breakage deposit. Plenty of amazing lodges there, but won't go to Stone Lodge again.
Large rooms and bathrooms.
Definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed! Everything has been thought of to make one's stay extra special. Not even Loadshedding could put a damper on our stay there. Tanya kept us informed the whole time and Shereen and Thomas were incredibly helpful. We will definitely go to Stone Lodge again.
The house was fully equipped with all the amenities and kitchen appliances you could require. Shireen welcomed us with a warm smile and provided excellent service during our stay. We made use of the game viewing vehicle which gave us access to areas in the park, we would not have experienced otherwise. Thank you very much! We loved it!
Stone Lodge is about a great place. And being able to rent your own vehicle makes it almost exciting.
This was a piece of heaven on earth. Our family enjoyed every minute of this beautiful house. Thanks for making our stay so fantastic.
Would highly recommend it, and we can't wait to be back ! We had such a pleasant stay. The house exceeded all of our expectations. The house itself is beautifully decorated and spotless and the kitchen is beyond well equipped. The bedrooms and bathrooms are tastefully designed and decorated with beautiful views of the bush. Private, secluded and an absolute heavenly bush hideout. Thank you for making our family get-away a very memorable one!
Nice and quiet in the forest.
It was a wonderful getaway. Stone Lodge lived up to all expectations. Very well furnished, nothing was missing. This is an exceptional lodge!
A beautiful herd of kudus, a timid warthog and rheumatic ostriches visited us daily. The Bride of the Bushveld (dombeya rotundifolia) was in full bloom. The sunsets were truly a spectacle of colors, just a pity the screaming children from the lodge next door spoiled our 'peaceful' sunsets and visits on the deck.
Was our second time visiting Stone Lodge, and definitely not our last time.
We had such a pleasant stay. After the weekend we were left wanting to stay longer. The house exceeded all of our expectations. The house itself is beautifully decorated and spotless. The kitchen is beyond well equipped and the bedrooms and bathrooms were nicely sized with beautiful views of the bush. The deck and pool area was our favourite part of the house. Private, secluded and an absolute heavenly bush hideout. Jeremiah was exceptional and always there to help us out when we needed it. Would highly recommend it! Can't wait to be back.
The place a simple drive from Johannesburg, it is a great money for valued and the place creates a beautiful tranquil experience for guests. It's the second time staying at stone lodge, and foresee many more stays in future.
Perfect weekend getaway.
Wonderfully equipped, beautiful and peaceful house. Ideal for a break to enjoy the forest. The service and information beforehand was top notch.
Stone Lodge can accommodate 6 people very comfortably. Access road was not so good, difficult to get there with a low vehicle. Game viewing near the lodge is very limited unless you use their vehicle.
We had a really nice stay. Most beautiful place in the forest. We did get pretty cold with the cold front so the fireplace worked overtime. We didn't really have animal visitors at home, don't know if the cold played a role. We went on a game drive but could not find the elephants, buffaloes or rhinos. Few problems we had were quickly sorted out with management. Very pleasant people. We will definitely book into Stone Lodge again, maybe just in the summer.
We wanted a special family weekend to celebrate my hubby's 60th birthday and that is exactly what we got and more. The lodge has got absolutely everything that you require for a self-catering weekend. Very well maintained and exceptionally clean.
Well equipped, neat and clean.
We were very disappointed when we noticed late Saturday morning that the loud noise, shouting and loud music was coming from a bachelorette party at the house next door. This turned the whole experience into an irritation and shame towards our foreign visitors who were looking forward to their Afrikabos excursion. We called and messaged both the agent and security multiple times. We were told they would go and talk and we should call again if it continued! So we called at least 5 times while trying to focus on other things. Long story short, they couldn't make any difference and the noise continued until 10 o'clock in the evening. Our privacy was also violated by security letting the perpetrators know that we were the complainants. A lady who was part of the party arrived at the porch and tried to convince us that they had the right to hang out and that the noise actually didn't affect us at all. We were all very shocked. Was it just us who were aware of the rules and absolutely abided by them ourselves? How on earth can anyone think that Mabalingwe is the right place for a bunch of screaming female teachers to come and get drunk? In my opinion, security should have arrested them and put them out at 3 o'clock in the afternoon when it was clear that there was no stopping. They didn't leave until the next morning. For the large amount of money paid, the weekend was not up to standard. There are many other places we have been before where we would have gotten much more value for our money.
Unbelievable! Beautifully decorated lodge with a fully equipped designer kitchen in a lovely setting. Huge porch with a swimming pool and braai area overlooking a waterhole where we saw giraffe and bush pigs. Lots of birds everywhere, rustic and peaceful. Highly recommended.
Stone Lodge is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. It’s perfect for relaxing with family and friends, and ideal for bonding and spending quality time together.
Everything was nice and clean. Didn't need anything more, the house was fully equipped. Was delicious!
A home built and decorated down to the finest detail with love and care. Equipped in every way. Spacious luxury in the bush. Excellent service. We had visitors at the waterhole every day. Families of giraffes, warthogs and buck. We saw lots of animals in the reserve. Days and nights spent in the pool and around the fire and relaxing on the superb patio. Can’t wait to go back. We had such a beautiful, happy, relaxing time. The lodge was very wheelchair friendly. Thank you all and thank you Petro.
You need to visit this gem of palace. It's one beautiful place. From the entrance right back to the back yard where you are surrounded by bush. Beautiful sky and the animals coming to drink water. The house has all you need, the space is amazing. Kitchen nothing is needed there they have thought of everything. Outside is well thought through. It felt like home away from home with loads of spoils. The 2 staff members Jeremia and Sherees are absolutely amazing. It really feels like I had a holiday, they take good care of you while you there. Everything is always clean and looks like you just arrived every day after they have been there. They so friendly and just wanted to make sure our stay is relaxing. We will be back. We have been going to Mabalingwe now for over 6 years sometimes we go twice a year and out of all our stays and homes we have been in this one is our favourite one!
Terribly beautiful, lots of wildlife visited us. Very tidy and everything you could think of is available in the kitchen and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
For the price, they can easily put in a standby power source for the load shedding which, apart from the normal equipment, unfortunately also affects the water pressure. Among other things, elephants and buffalo visited the lodge's water hole.
We have stayed numerous times in Mabalingwe but Stone Lodge has definitely been the best accommodation we have stayed in! The house is beautifully furnished and has everything you need to make your stay luxurious and comfortable! The surroundings are breathtaking and peaceful it feels like you have the bush all to yourself! We will most definitely book to stay again!
The house met and exceeded all our expectations. 5 star quality, great! Can recommend the house to anyone. We will definitely be booking another weekend at Stone Lodge.
Beautiful home with stunning decor. Please respect the no noise rule as this has been a great benefit to all the game we have seen at the waterhole situated at the lodge.
We had an incredible time and will be back tomorrow. From the moment we stopped there until the last morning we were helped by Shereen and Jeremiah and the two wonderful people went out of their way to see that we could have the best time ever.
Stone Lodge is luxurious and fully equipped. Plenty of animals that visit the water hole. Lovely spacious house with large living areas and rooms. Thoroughly enjoyed stay and really relaxed and switched off.
We stayed for 7 nights in this spacious, beautiful upmarket house. Great service from owner and local staff who did the extra mile! Wild animals should roam around but due to recent rainfall, this was limited. Only one of the seven days (buffaloes around the house) bit most of the days very quiet. Road to the house is very bad (gravel, potholes) so take care and rent a 4WD or, at least. a SUV or X-Over. Facilities in the house were excellent, Wi-Fi worked well (streaming Netflix worked okay), daily cleaning of the BBQ and pool was also cleaned every day. Local staff lives on the premises in a separate chalet but no intrusion of privacy at all. And both of them are very friendly, show lots of hospitality and it was fun to talk with Jerry. He even washed my car the day before departure, thanks for that! Very good bedding, kitchen very complete. Only missing things were some overhead fans in the living room (was very hot) and covered terrace. Strongly suggested! Mabalingwe is nice to stay but for wildlife pretty limited. Don't go there if you want to compare with the large national parks such as Kruger, Addo or Hluhluwe, but just enjoy the smaller reserve with some limitations. You can rent to house-owned game vehicle, we did so. Not necessary to book that for your whole stay. One or two days is okay. In the whole: great stay though 7 nights is pretty long, would suggest 4/5 nights.
Beautiful house, with excellent staff and service. All you need is there. The house is well furnished and the views are to die for. Lucky enough to see various animals at the waterhole in front of the house. Lovely break. Thank you Tanya for excellent service! 5 stars indeed!
We enjoyed our stay at Stone Lodge very much. The place is in the ideal location - we saw lots of game from the deck. The house has been done up very nicely! Well done.
Our stay was very nice and peaceful. The accommodation is luxurious and there is everything in the residence that you would need to make your stay unforgettable.
