Lovely view of mountains. Lovely fireplace in a very neat little house.
We enjoyed having a stunning view to wake up to every morning and it was so peaceful. We were able to relax. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the restaurant where we got our money's worth. The pizzas are huge and so tasty.
Over-the-edge cottage has the most beautiful view. Cozy fireplace, hot water and everything you need. Beautiful gardens full of birds. The restaurant's food is excellent.
Bitterly delicious! The cottage is beautifully furnished. Wood and lightning are provided for the fireplace. It is situated in a beautiful garden with access to a walking trail. We were able to watch rugby at the retreat in the afternoon and enjoy a delicious meal.
The room was warm and cosy with plenty of wood to feed the fire! The water in the shower was lovely and hot. The kitchen was very well equipped. We were extremely comfortable and we would recommend The Edge Mountain Retreat to anyone wishing for peace and quiet and beautiful scenery. A pity the wind was blowing a gale, making it a bit unpleasant to go viewing the sights! A pity the azaleas were almost over as they must have been an absolute sight for sore eyes.
Fantastic! Hogsback is one of our favourite places in the world! The Edge is a great place to enjoy Hogsback from. We stayed in The Cabin. It was just as cute and cosy and private as we hoped it would be. There were fresh flowers on the table and all the conveniences we could have wished for. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

Our stay was a welcome break from a very hard business month. We enjoyed the lovely garden in front of the cottage. The cottage itself was excellent, we wanted for nothing more and felt quite at home. We enjoyed the quiet serenity of the forest surroundings.
We didn't notice there is no TV and WiFi.
We had a lovely stay at The Edge Mountain Retreat. We stayed in the Sugar Bird cabin, which was cozy and had everything we needed for our stay, including electric blankets that came in super handy in the freezing temperatures. The location was awesome, and the kids enjoyed exploring the surroundings.
The log cabin was really cosy despite the howling wind. We had ample blankets, a heater, and electric blankets to keep us warm. It is within walking distance to all amenities, restaurants, a view of the mountains, and the Labyrinth.
We had a nice stay at The Edge Mountain Retreat, and we made good use of the fireplace and firewood that were supplied because the weather was cold and rainy. We had dinner in the restaurant, and the food was very good, as was the service. Friendly staff. At this time of year in January, the gardens around the guest house were full of the most beautiful hortensias. We can warmly recommend The Edge Mountain Retreat, and Hogsback is a very special place to visit.

The chalet's view of the valley was breathtaking. Although we had a very nice stay, I feel that to pay R9 for 5 nights, the facilities should be somewhat more modern and newer. Certain things in the chalet need a bit of renovation. Especially a small detail like a bread plate will be handy. The plastic shower rack does not work well and everything falls out. Maybe an extra pair of towels as it was raining and didn't dry quickly. Maybe just a little renovation will make the place feel like a better status. With the first night's meal in the restaurant we were also disappointed, because the dish on the menu we wanted was not available. When we wanted to order a wine, the words were also "Sorry, we don't have that", and when we wanted to order a sherry a third time, also the words "Sorry, we don't have this". The road has many potholes from the entrance of the town to the Retreat. People just have to make sure they have a car that's tall, otherwise it's not going to work well.
Dirt road at Hogs Back in poor condition. Access route from Cathcart also in poor condition. This will definitely keep potential visitors away.

When life gets busy, this accommodation is exactly what the soul needs. The suite we stayed in was called Heavens Above. And we truly felt like we were staying in the heavens. The Edge is a place that I would definitely recommend!
Electric blanket and log fire were fantastic. All that is missing is WiFi in the chalets. Yes, I know the WiFi is free in the restaurant area without any obligation to order anything, but the fact that there is no WiFi in the chalets costs The Edge a star.

What a stunning place to visit and stay at. It is well worth a visit. Quiet and tranquil and within walking distance of the most gorgeous views. All items were available in the flat for self-catering however the food at the restaurant for dinner was great, and to add a lovely fireplace. Please visit the quaint town.

The location is beautiful. The restaurant was great and the staff there very professional, polite and friendly. The layout of the cottage was lovely but unfortunately the toilet was leaking and all that had been done to fix it was to put a plastic tray underneath, which overflowed and so the floor was constantly wet. The electricity kept tripping and we couldn’t use most of the lights, fridge, kettle or microwave. They were apologetic when I reported it, though.
The good restaurant close to the houses is well located. There is a lot to do in the area.

What a beautiful place. The scenery and views are amazing. The Kudu Shack where we stayed was so clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The double bed had a warm blanket on it. It really was an experience and I will definitely go again.
We stayed in a lovely unit, Birchwood, and were very comfortable. The weather was freezing so we were grateful for the mohair blanket and wall heater. The meals are delicious and reasonable and the staff all very helpful. Just worried that the road conditions will soon make it impossible for normal vehicles to reach this beautiful spot.

Hogsback is a sweet little town. The edge view from the chalet was simply amazing and the fire place in the unit created a very cozy atmosphere.

We stayed lovely. The cottage was clean and tidy and had all the necessary amenities. The view is beautiful. Was blessed to see 2 Knysnaloeries in front of us and also the Cape Parrot. The Labyrinth was lovely to walk, early in the morning in the mist.
This must be the best place to stay in Hogsback. It has it all. Beautiful views. Lovely fireplace that kept us warm all the time. Great little restaurant and pub with helpful friendly staff.
Although there are numerous accommodation options in Hogsback, The Edge is very well located near the edge of the gorge. Our unit was next to a forest, which created a unique atmosphere. The restaurant does not offer good value for money (nothing wrong with the food, just too little for too much) and we waited about an hour on a not busy night. Maybe better to stay in The Edge, and eat in town. There are several units available at The Edge at reasonable rates.
Very satisfied with the stay. Would recommend it anytime and stay there again. The scenery is unbelievable and the unit was neat, clean, quiet and peaceful.
The Edge is a lovely venue with rolling hills, clouds and plant life. The labyrinth is phenomenal and became a daily routine. My only negative comment is that the best view from the Sunbird house is through the toilet window, other than that staff were great, food was good, even if a bit pricey and I can only imagine what this must look like in winter. We will be back for one of the other units later in the year.
The unit was immaculately clean and fire place was wonderful.
The cottage was very tidy, but unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable and the mattress cover had probably not been washed for a long time and was full of stains. Furthermore, it was wonderful with beautiful views and the food in the restaurant was delicious. Will definitely stay there again.
The view is special, the restaurant great, but the linen has marks and stains on it. Furthermore, they also didn't take my deposit into account and I had to contact them to ask for a refund.
Compared to other destinations in SA we were surprised at the cleanliness and luxury for the price. Only a few steps out of your house you walk onto a breathtaking cliff with views over a lush valley.
Edge Mountain Retreat was excellent. A lovely little house (Sugarbird), tucked away in the mountains in a forest. What more could one ask for? Edge Mountain has its own restaurant with delicious meals and large grounds with beautiful views and steps. The gardens are very beautiful and well maintained. Service is also great. Sugarbird unit was clean and comfortable with all the amenities a self catering unit should have. The singing of Knysna lullabies at one's window every morning is a definite bonus. It is quiet, private and definitely a place to be peaceful.
It was a great pleasure to stay in this lovely place. Good reception, kind staff and the prettiest view. Was nice and cosy. The only thing that was a hindrance was the state of the roads in Hogsback, but it has nothing to do with The Edge.
