Stephanie, managing the place, could not have been more helpful, especially when it came to sorting out a serious car problem when it would not start. She deserves six stars out of five!
Laura made us feel very welcome and went out of her way to make us comfortable. The log cabin was extremely neat and comfortable.
Nice cozy stay in nature. Options to grill inside and/or outside for any weather conditions. Bathroom is separately attached to the same structure.
From the beginning we received excellent service from the website as well as Megan at The River Siding. The rondavel is incredibly well equipped with enough braai wood, fire lighters, nut coffee, plunger, Doom, hot water bags, heater and fan, entire box of milk, large containers full of coffee, tea, sugar etc. There are braai bowls, braai tongs, braai grill and everything one would need in the kitchen and more. It was for sure one of the most comfortable places to stay we have ever been. The atmosphere is also top class with the peaceful sound of the river, nice fireplace and beautiful wildlife. We will definitely go to The River Siding again.

Particularly neat, tastefully equipped house. There was even nut coffee and a "plunger". Rechargeable light bulbs, emergency light, lighter and a gas bottle with gas plate. WiFi works well.
This was our third visit to The River Siding in their third unit. The cottage's view of the river is breathtakingly beautiful. At least enjoying coffee on the stoep every morning is nice. Thanks again, Megan, for your hospitality and great service.
The room was very clean with everything you need! I gathered things that were not needed that the place provides such as a barbecue grill, wood, coffee, sugar. The pond where you can fish is about two kilometers from the cottage, very private and no one bothers you when you fish. There is also a section where you can swim in the river if you just walk about 50 meters. It was very nice!
Thank you to the Goosens and to Megan for the opportunity. A beautiful location overlooking the river and a breathtaking view of mount Ceres. If you stay here, don’t sit inside, sit outside and watch the sun go down and the sky turn to stars, unreal experience. Everything was perfectly planned for a visit, no issues. My only gripe which is out of the owner's hands is the lack of mobile signal. When we arrived we struggled to find the cabin and we were unable to call due to the signal. Highly recommended place to stay as far as we are concerned. I will likely return. Thanks.

We stayed in the beautiful log cabin - it was spotlessly clean on arrival and it has everything you need. Very comfortable, and they include lots of little extras such as ice for your drinks and a selection of board games. It was great to have aircon at this time of year (when the power was on). A couple of things to keep in mind: The river in front of the cabin does not flow all year round. From around December to April the water levels are low - we found only stagnant pools of water with a couple of dead fish floating around, so definitely not good for swimming. Very disappointing as we envisaged spending our days splashing around in the river. I'd suggest they look at getting a small plunge pool so you can cool down during the hot summer months. We had to resort to cold showers to keep cool in the 35 degree heat. During loadshedding times you need to plan carefully. We arrived to 4.5 hours of loadshedding - all the appliances are electric, so we only had the braai to cook on. I believe they are looking at installing a gas hob. There is no cell signal at the cabin and when the power goes off, you lose the Wi-Fi connection too. So basically you have zero contact with the outside world, which is not great in the case of an emergency. The cabin itself is lovely and we would recommend it. If you're planning to stay here, check on the loadshedding situation, and also check on the water levels if you're planning to swim/cool off in the river.
We stayed in the Cottage, during the week just after New Year's. The cottage is beautiful, clean and well equipped, the view from outside and the braai area is breathtaking and there is beautiful bird life. However, the river was dry, so no swimming/paddling outside the cottage and the swimming area upstream has an incredibly loud and ugly pump next to it and you have to clamber down an unkempt bank to reach the thigh-deep water. The dam is not within walking distance and there were no instructions about how to reach it. Turns out it's down the public road and next to an ugly factory and we couldn't figure out how to actually get in (no entry signs and fences around it). Tractors and trailers noisily drove up and down behind the cottage and the neighbours spent most days sawing down trees and mowing lawns, so generally very noisy. A helicopter sprayed the crops behind the cottage and hovered over our area too, frightening our baby. So. If you're happy to sit outside your cottage all day and enjoy the view, then this place is great but if you're keen to explore and enjoy the natural surroundings shown in the photos, this definitely isn't it, unfortunately. Oh, and there's a busy road behind the cottage too, not too noisy but not great either.
We thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The braai and view is perfect and can be enjoyed all year around. We were able to relax in the most peaceful surroundings. The Log cabin was clean and has everything you need for your stay. What a wonderful stay! Thank you so much!

We had a very nice stay. The children frolicked in the shallow river in front of the house from morning until night. It's lovely and no one around you bothers you. Can really recommend it if you want to be in nature and just rest! The mountain view with the river was beautiful!

Was a soulful weekend. Mountains and river location is great for relaxation with semi-primitive setting. It almost felt like glamping. We had a lot of fun with children. Not much to do, which makes it perfect for just bonding with family.
The view from the house is so beautiful. It was very nice and the braai area next to the river is heavenly. There is a wedding venue nearby and you can hear the music from there but it won't bother you as the location more than makes up for it.
Our honeymoon was everything I hoped it would be since we love nature and tranquillity. Will definitely go again.

Loved it! The location is gorgeous and the rondavel was fully kitted and neat. The ablution block is also great. Thank you for providing firewood, fire-starters and candles - it's a welcome touch. Sitting on the stoep and drinking sun downers under the shadow of the mountain is a glorious and relaxing experience. The river was very low and stagnant (we were kindly advised beforehand though), and the splash pool mentioned in the description has been removed, so we sadly couldn't swim to cool off. Overall, a wonderful place to stay, and highly recommended.

The River Siding was the perfect choice for a relaxing 2 nights with mountains on either side and a river in the middle. Peaceful and private, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A few minutes to Ceres town to go eat, grab a coffee or a drink. The cabin is beautiful, clean, all the right items are at hand. Thank you for having us, me and my 2 daughters enjoyed it thoroughly. Get away from city life, be sure to make a note of River Siding, Cottage 2. Absolutely unbelievably tidy, everything and more you could need! The location is beautiful! Surrounded by mountains and the cottage is hidden among trees and scenery! We were pleasantly surprised with our Easter buns and Easter eggs in the kitchen ─ attention to the finer detail. Enough wood was already provided! Milk, coffee sugar, salt and pepper were also provided! We walked for hours among the fruit orchards and along the river! Couldn't take enough pictures! Our dog-kids enjoyed it so much! Plenty of play space and very private! We are already checking the calendar to make our next reservation! The foreman, Kevin came to drop off the keys and was very friendly and helpful! Megan, thank you for all your help during the reservation of our unit, and for answering all my questions before we arrived! Look at the stars, 10/10!

Riverside is quiet and calm, all you hear is crickets. The cottages are far from other people so you are by no means heard or seen by others, and are therefore completely private. The area is very nice, with nice weather and a calm atmosphere. There is a nice braai and swimming pool and a river just a stone's throw away. The surrounding area has wine farms and restaurants and is close to Ceres if you want to go out the day. But to spend the whole day at the rondavel is just as nice as you can light a fire and lie in the pool. What is also very helpful is that Wi-Fi is free if the children want to watch a movie at night. We really enjoyed it and were really rested after our time there. And we will definitely go back in the future. Thank you so much for a nice stay. It was worth every penny.

Spectacular view of mountain and river. The cottage where we stayed was on the bank of the river and a walking distance to the mountain range. The place is buzzing with life with a vast array of birds populating the area. At night the place is welcomed by the sounds of different species of frogs at the river. A truly remarkable sound for a nature lover. We were treated to 5 star hospitality. Before arrival we were contacted as to the time we would arrive. At the place we found complimentary condiments with a freshly baked bread and fruits on the table. The place was in a very neat and clean condition upon arrival. We found enough wood and firelighters for us to use. I can only compliment the place on its sterling comfort except for the sleeper couch which was very uncomfortable to sleep on. Other than that I found the place to be a piece of Eden where we could enjoy a peaceful tranquility and a beautiful experience of nature. Thank you again for an awesome time at The River Siding.

I appreciated that the place was clean, the bedding was lovely hotel quality and a very comfortable bed. The bathrooms were clean, spacious and a good shower. The outside table looks out to a pretty setting. I’m sure it’s even prettier when the river is full, right now because of the drought it was quite empty. There are fans in both rooms so even in the intense heat we could stay cool. In the bathrooms were shower gels, lotions, shampoo. And nice ones too. It’s a bit pricey for what you get. You get free wood, fire lighters, some coffee and rusks, milk and tea. But the cottage is very basic and small. For double that price you can get something a lot bigger and fancier. Also, the cottage is quite close to a main road and in the mornings you could hear the trucks passing by.
Stunning setting, lovely rustic cottage which was well equipped and very clean and the little extras of banana loaf with butter left and milk in the fridge made it extra special. We wish we could have stayed longer!

We really enjoyed the stay at The River Siding. We were just looking for tranquillity and to just relax and the area and accommodation make it possible.
We enjoyed the weekend. The location is good and the river outside your door makes you feel like you are deep in the wilderness. Enough fire/firewood is provided and a home-made bread is a nice surprise.

We stayed in the log cabin. Lovely on the river. Have small children so was very happy about the fence around the yard. Very beautiful and peaceful environment.
In winter, the toilet at The River Siding can be quite unpleasant for old people who have to get up at night because you basically have to walk around outside. We tour often and therefore I can compare: more modern chalets with en suite facilities, air conditioning and TV, next to e.g. the N7, is almost R300 cheaper. I think The River Siding is not good value for money.
Directions to location leave much to be desired. Very quiet and peaceful, until hordes of people arrived across the river and played loud music until about 1am the next morning. Sleeping place was unwanted for 4 people. Not nice to share 1 bedroom with a third person. Fourth berth/bed had to be put up and made up in the kitchen/dining room/living room area and not enough living area left. Front door locking mechanism not ideal and impossible to go out to the bathroom without noise during the night. Bath had no plug available.
Already our second visit, this time with our three adult children and five puppies. The moosite scenery and surroundings, accommodation/barbecue area several meters away from the still flowing river with crystal clear water and shady trees. Private. We're all going to do it again - and our puppies didn't want to go home!
The cottage is beautiful, clean and well equipped. The owner has thought of everything and more. We can't wait to visit again and I have already and will recommend the place to my colleagues and friends.
If I need to recharge this is the place I go to out of town on an working farm. Cottage is small and cozy, all private. I go there at least twice a year.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and whatever small problems we had were quickly resolved. The position of the cottages is idyllic but being on a working fruit farm the one in which we stayed had farm machinery moving past from early morning. Cottage was well equipped and there was plentiful wood for both the indoor fire and the braai, the latter being situated on the banks of the river. Surrounding countryside is majestic and plenty of small wine farms to visit as well as Ceres and Tulbach.
We took our dogs and enjoyed a lovely, peaceful weekend. Going jogging and cycling between the orchards and along the river. They provide plenty of wood. Could make fire inside and outside. Really nice for a weekend.

Very kindly received by Elizna. The wood was definitely a bonus, we were able to braai outside in the lapa and when the rain fell on us we could use the fireplace/braai inside - delicious! The little treats like biscuits, apples and of course the homemade bun are a winner. Thank you guys, we will definitely come again.
The customer service was very friendly and good but the accommodation was disappointing. Shower was very dirty and slimy. Kitchen equipment was dirty. House is advertised for 4 people, but it is rather for 2 adults and children. Not value for money and it's located close to the main road and the traffic doesn't really make you feel like you're breaking away.
This is my hide away little place my hubby knows when I need to re-load to bring me here. Since you stop till you leave its peace, birds singing and the river cobbling away. I just love this place. We've spend the past weekend with some friend their and had quite a bit of fun. Highly recommended I must say... to find your "inner peace".
We had a lovely stay in River Siding, even though it was cold. The fireplace drove away all the winter cold. The view is breathtaking. Will definitely stay there again. Everything is beautiful, clean, comfortable and tidy.

We had the most amazing time as a family here - great for riding bikes - a solid hike to the rock art - not for the lazy - most amazing setting next to a flowing river and the best braai ever! The best part is that it is not so far from Cape Town and the drive to and from is just incredibly beautiful! We will definitely be back soon!
