This is our 2nd time staying at The Vinelands on Alpha and if the opportunity arises again I will stay there again.
The room was clean however bathrooms showed signs of mildew. Rooms have been built and designed on a low budget.
The guesthouse is clean and acceptable. Owner very focused on service. Breakfast is also very nice.
No customer support. Room and key were shown to us and given by cleaner. No explanation of what time and where breakfast is served. The pool was dirty and small children were shouting and making noise at the pool all afternoon and early morning.

The entire interior of the place is painted dark brown. Make it very dark. Must keep lights on all day. Towels and bed linen nice clean and good quality and bathroom neatly redone. However, the white painted furniture is full of fingerprints and the bathroom door is too small for the doorway. When we got in just after 2pm, we were told it was too late to book dinner. It was a shame because this is the reason we chose The Vinelands. You may also not check in before 2:00 p.m.

It is such a beautiful house, but unfortunately it is not properly maintained - especially in terms of the requirements of a guesthouse. The house and guest rooms smell like smoke. The morning with breakfast I was really not fond of the food because the smell of cigarette smoke hung heavily in the breakfast room. Will certainly not use the place again and will not recommend it to anyone.

The Vinelands on Alpha's self-catering unit offers a very safe resting place for travellers. The decor is not modern, but we slept very well. It is a convenient location for exploring Cape Town and the surrounding area.

We enjoyed wonderful accommodation at The Vinelands. Our room was equipped with everything we needed, even a heater and hairdryer. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. We were very impressed. The building needs a bit of maintainance, but we can definitely recommend the guesthouse.
We felt safe and the place was tidy. The photo is just misleading, because we were under the impression that this is what the place where we are going to stay looks like. That's exactly why we chose The Vinelands on Alpha. We could have booked a place for R50 cheaper per night, which looks IDENTICAL to the place we stayed in, and had we known this in advance, we would have chosen the other place and saved R200.
We were very grateful that the owner kept the iPad our kids forgot in the flat. We weren't so impressed with the flat we had to stay in though. Would much rather have stayed in the guesthouse. Unfortunately that part was overlooked when we booked. The apartment was clean and neat, but really didn't like the area.
Owner is exceptionally hospitable and gave clear directions to destinations. Good, tasty breakfast. Air conditioning in room a bonus. I would definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.

VERY good value for money. We really enjoyed our stay at The Vinelands on Alpha. It offers very good value for money and is clean and tidy with nice finishes and a warm host!
My personal reason for No is the following: Although everything was very tidy, the smell of cigarette smoke hung strongly in the air as well as on the towels and bedding. For someone who doesn't smoke, and has asthma, it was a challenge. After 3 days my clothes started to smell like cigarette smoke. I then asked to be moved to a room outside the house. It was slightly better but the bedding and towels still didn't smell fresh. Can I remain anonymous please? Thank you very much. I was forced to stay in a guest house due to renovation work on my apartment.
The service and facilities were adequate, but I could not understand the smoke in the lounge area. It seeps into the reception and kitchen and I'm allergic. Can't imagine people with kids staying there.

Not bad. Dissapointed that there was no tea in the room. Power tripped when the kettle was switched on and was off for about 25 mins. Phillip said he forgot to put petrol in the generator. Not good!
We did not get the room we asked for. The road is very noisy, maybe we from the countryside are just more used to silence! The breakfast was very good.

Vineland on the Alpha is a home away from home with a friendly owner and a great accommodation. We had a great time engaging with our friendly host, Phillip, who treated us like we were his own friends staying as guests.

The Vineyards on Alpha is a great guest house. It's clean and tidy. Friendly service and the best food. The cookies in the room were the proverbial 'cherry' on the 'chocolate sundae'.
The cozy living room between the bedrooms provides a nice place to hang out. We would have single beds instead of preferred a double bed. The mattress could also have been a bit firmer, but the bedding was very good quality and clean. Chocolate on the bed was a nice treat! Definitely very good value for money.
This was our second visit to The Vineyards on Alpha, and second time around was even better than the first. Awesome host, the rooms are comfortable and breakfast "Yummy!" Thank you once again Lekkeslaap for all your help!

There are two rooms in the house itself (which share a bathroom) and three en-suite rooms in an outbuilding with its own lounge. The atmosphere is rather like the small family hotels in the Italian countryside. The owner, an experienced chef, is the manager himself and makes the food himself. Breakfast is included. The omelette in particular is something special, and subtly different every day. He also makes dinner every day, which one should only order after breakfast. Unfortunately we were busy every night, and had to settle for drooling to read what was to be served that night.
