42 guests' feedbackThe hostess is wonderful and warm. The unit we stayed in is well equipped with everything one could need for a few days of vacation. Although it is not luxurious, it is comfortable, neat and tidy. The accommodation is a little outside the town (not too far to walk), with a beautiful view over the valley. We enjoyed being woken up in the morning by farm animals, rather than city noise.
Beds and bathroom are very comfortable. They might pay more attention to the kitchen part. There are braai facilities, but the kitchen is not properly equipped. Cooking and washing up by yourself is very difficult.
Not the first time or the last time we go there. Can really recommend it.

I would be able to recommend it if the staff is aware of our arrival and can clean on time. A lot of dust. However, they did their best and made us feel very welcome. Lovely view.
Perfect place to unwind in nature, the staff were fantastic, unfortunately did not meet the owner. We will be back!
The unit is a simple cottage with everything needed. A view of the Gats River, farm animals on the yard, a nice boma to make a fire, unique bathroom with nice shower that works with a gas geyser. In addition, we bought delicious biltong, dry sausage and grilled cake, which are all homemade on the premises. The paddock has many other products made by the community.
It was nice and quiet and the children enjoyed the animals.
Best place to stay in NB - price and view.
View from stoepie was very beautiful. Door of cottage could not close. Unable to fill kettle with water in the kitchen area. Dishes must be washed in a dish and water must then be thrown out who knows where.
We just passed through, but it was a comfortable place to stay and if you like animals, it is awesome. They were very helpful in helping us with a place to stay at the last minute.
Sufficient for 4 persons. Once the road/bridge is repaired, life will surely return to the paddock. We believe it is soon. The animals are a cute bonus!
None of the doors to our accommodation could lock. Owner was unreachable to help with safety.

The hospitality and accommodation are definitely worth the effort to visit the town and at a very generous price. The view from the room is spectacular.

Accommodation is 'rustic', comfortable, just right for switching off and relaxing. Well appointed, lots of power plugs! Solar power is fantastic, no loadshedding! Barbecue place with a view of mountain, nature, river and millions of stars at night is medicine for the soul!

Tot Hier Toe Padstal creates a lovely farm atmosphere and is a good overnight stop for a visit to the historic town of New Bethesda.
The cottages are located next to cattle pens with various livestock/poultry which attract a lot of flies.

It is the most beautiful village with very friendly people. We enjoyed every moment.
When we got there everyone was so friendly and down to earth, they made us feel so at home and could have a nice chat. The room was nice and clean, thanks for that. We found the animals very nice. They look so well at the place and all its animals it makes me happy to see that their heart and soul is in that place the owner and staff get along very well.
Although there was an electric blanket on the bed, which helped against the nice cold winter night. The peaceful farm life was ideal for us. The breakfast was also something from another world! The scenery is also something special. Padstal is surrounded by mountains. Will definitely visit the place again when we get the chance.
It's nice and quiet, ideal place to charge batteries for the next day's drive on holiday. Very friendly and helpful guests.
The kitchen facilities were minimal, acceptable for over-night only. Supplies replenishment not easy in the town. Need to refuel in Graaf-Reinet. There is a really great restaurant in the town serving the best lamb cutlets.
New unit. Maybe fan/air cooling. Comfortable chairs to sit on.
Farm animals in close vicinity makes for a real farm experience. Great experience and well stocked farm stall with lovely home made products.
There was nothing wrong with the stay, but there were a few things that bothered me a bit. The bedding and towels smelled of smoke which we did not expect, the bedside lamps were donkey legs which is not to everyone's taste, the toilets did not flush well and when we opened one curtain it fell out of the wall.
Unique foods, feels like family. Calm and an oasis in the Karoo!
Kids loved all the farm animals and the ginger beer and biltong in the paddock was a winner.

The gas geyser needs attention. The heat of the gas geyser does not remain constant.
If you're 4 adults and a toddler like we were, this is really good value for money (considering you get your own cottage for basically what a backpackers would cost), especially considering the beautiful view. It is a bit small and a bit far from the rest of town though, so we stayed only one night, but I think it could be ideal for twenty-somethings. Our toddler absolutely loved the farm atmosphere and all the animals, and Chrissie let him feed the "hanslammetjie". They also kept his jersey for us, which somehow got left behind. We had the tramazinis for breakfast and they were nice and fresh, although we didn't realise the cappuccinos are the instant kind (you've been warned, fellow coffee-lovers!). All in all, a pleasant experience and would stay here again.
This unit on a working Karoo smallholding and behind an interesting paddock with friendly people really makes you feel that you don't have to look further than here if you want to stay in the New Bethesda area. A unique and comfortable stay experience.
The accommodation will be perfect if more attention is given to detail (curtains, etc.). Otherwise it's a joy to stay there.
