Extremely impressed with our overnight stay at Travalia. The rooms are squeaky clean, comfortable with all amenities needed. The bunk bed was a hit with our kids and the restaurant offered delicious home-cooked boerekos or the option to braai just outside our unit. The grounds include lots of grass for kids to run around and even a playground. Even though ours was only an overnight stay, we would definitely always choose to stay there every time we travel between the Cape and Joburg. We didn't have hot water when we arrived, but the owner quickly came to investigate the IoT automated system of switching geysers on and ensured that we had a backup option of using one of the other units if it didn't heat up in time. Truly an amazing find and top-notch service!

We were on a motorcycle tour in Wilderness and arrived late at their place. Everything was arranged with WhatsApp and had no problems. We got there a little late, but they had already fixed everything.
Everything ran smoothly. The accommodation was comfortable with everything required available. I ate supper at the restaurant, a really delicious homemade lasagne.
Very pleasant and peaceful environment. We had a very nice stay and relaxed. It was noticeable that there were no wardrobes in the rooms we used, making it a bit uncomfortable. Our air conditioning was not working properly. Some of the staff came to take a look, but it didn't cool down. The outside temperature was 38 degrees. They did bring us a fan, but it just blew the hot air around. What is a big bonus is that they use Solar. So we had no load shedding, thank you very much. Other than that, we can't complain, thank you very much.

We had a nice stay. I did arrange in advance that we would book a double room and that the children (5) and (3) would sleep in their travel cots. We only got 2 towels (1 big and 1 small). I asked at reception for 2 extra and it could not be provided. I also asked twice for an extra small plate because the children shared their food. The deposit already paid on June 7th didn't show on the system, so I paid it double with the food without realizing it. It was fixed and I received the refund within a few days. As always, we will sleep there on the way to Olifantsnek. This time the service just wasn't as excellent as usual.
Could do with another mat in front of the bed and a shelf in the bathroom.
The place is clean and has a big room for 3 people. I was surprised to see that they charge R25 for 250MB of WiFi. It's four times more expensive than CellC. I asked them to send me the location on WhatsApp, but they said they couldn't see my number and told me to Google it. Then they sent me the menu on that number. They could be more friendly, otherwise, all was good. Thanks.
Location is very central and it is very neat. The advance communication between Travalia and guests is very good. The options to eat there or barbecue and that you can buy everything there was a winner. The dinner was heavenly. The breakfast the next morning at the Padstal was just as delicious.

This is the ideal overnight stay on the way to Cape Town. We enjoyed the clean Karoo air and silence. The unit (no. 19) unfortunately had no crockery or cutlery, and the duvet smelled of urine. Will book another unit next time. Overall we really enjoyed it.
Very good. TV is but small. On arrival there was no water, but this was soon addressed. The next morning the toilet was clogged. Water pressure for the shower is weak. The restaurant's food was very good.

Beautifully clean, green oasis in the middle of a very dry area. Rooms are neat, clean and beds sleep very well. Close to the N1 but far enough that the noise does not bother. We slept in room 9, and the bed was not up to standard. It was crunchy and slept through. Previous times we stayed over everything was perfect.
Travalia is the ideal place to stay. The room (number 18) was perfect: spacious, clean, tidy and nicely decorated. There are the necessary accessories for one night's stay such as a small fridge, microwave oven and kettle. The mattress and bedding are of high quality. The bathroom has a large and comfortable walk-in shower. We were able to cool down in the swimming pool after our long drive. The entire resort is beautifully maintained. All the staff are friendly, warm and professional. The meal we ordered was promptly delivered to our room and was exceptionally tasty. We were so impressed with our stay there, that we stayed there again on our return trip, in the same room as last time! This is one of the best places we have stayed and we highly recommend Travalia to other travelers.
After a long and hot journey the meal was delicious. Although there were problems with the power, the staff did everything they could to make it as convenient as possible for guests.

We are from Hartenbos and the children from Potchefstroom and met each other there to enjoy the few days with them. The Shop/Padstal is so authentically Karoo and we really enjoyed the Restaurant's breakfast and lunches. Because the barbecue of No 34, where the children were, was so nicely sheltered, we could barbecue meat in the strong wind and also thoroughly enjoy the Karoo chops bought at the Padstal.

Travalia was welcoming, warm and generally very pleasant! We felt very welcome at Travalia and had a lovely relaxing evening having a bottle of wine and some delicious lamb shanks for dinner. Room was warm and comfortable and the shower worked an absolute treat! A pity that the electric blanket only warmed one side of the bed (and no electric blankets were on offer on the other 2 beds in the room), but I am still very glad that we stopped here. One small thing to note: Travalia's service is fantastic, but be prepared to be in touch with them the day of your booking. While driving, we needed to inform Travalia of our ETA and what we would like for dinner. This was fine with 2 drivers (and with me not driving the shift before Travalia's 11:00 deadline for communicating our dinner order) but it would've been a little challenging for a lone traveller.

Travalia's relaxed atmosphere and service, from communication between Travalia and their guests to lighting the barbecue fire if you want to barbecue yourself, you'll have to go a long way to get better.
The braai suit and wood were winners. (Wind a bit bad but that's just one of those things). Air conditioning was required and 100%. Sleep well and relax. Breakfast at shop was first class.

The unit is very neat, private and secure. The food is delicious and we experienced very good and friendly service. The only negative that would prevent us from staying there again is that the beds are incredibly hard. This can be very easily improved by only placing a sponge topping (convoluted) on the beds for those who prefer a softer bed. If this happens, we will be happy to spend the night there again.

My daughter and son-in-law lived in no. 15 slept and the bedding was full of holes and it looked as if someone had already slept in the bed. The pillow cases, duvet cover and sheets had holes in them. The service and cordiality is very good.
Rooms are big and clean. The location is ideal for a stop on the way to Cape Town. We took the barbecue package options for dinner. The meat was value for money, but the side dishes' prices are absolutely ridiculous. Meat and side dishes can be bought from the paddock instead.
Quiet atmosphere, friendly welcome and everything was ready upon our arrival.
We enjoyed our stay here and enjoyed supper too. Will be back on future trips.

The facilities are very neat and clean. What did bother me was that any extras had to be paid for additionally. The icing on the cake was the tray with plates, knives and forks which also had to be paid for. Bring an ice pick for the complimentary bowl of ice that contains large solid chunks of ice that will never fit in a glass.

Travalia has everything you need at reasonable prices. The green lawns and gardens are a playground where our children had a great time. The customer service is great and the food is the icing on the cake. You don't have to look anywhere else, everything in one place - accommodation, delicious Karoo food and rest for your body after a long day on the road.

Ideally located if you are traveling from Gauteng to the Cape and it has a very safe and peaceful atmosphere.
The place is indicated on the website that four adults can sleep in 1 house. But the bunk bed in the house is not suitable for adults of any age to sleep on. An older person cannot fit under the bunk bed at all and it is impossible to get upstairs without getting injured. It can help a lot if the bunk bed is two, separate, single beds, because then young and old can use it.

We had ordered their braai packs and they even started the fire for us. Followed by a fresh Belgian waffle with ice cream. And no stay is complete without breakfast at the farmstal.
We could safely sit outside and grill our meat in the evening, enjoyed it very much.

Our room was very clean and comfortable with nice, modern facilities and parking next to it. Even though we could easily have self-catered, we decided to order dinner from their nearby farm stall and were so glad we did. Their lamb dishes were delicious and delivered right to our door - a wonderful treat on that bitterly cold night. In the late afternoon from our patio, we also enjoyed seeing a small herd of bontebok close to the fence of their game area. A great place to revisit!

Travalia not only offers luxurious accommodation, but also delicious dinners in the restaurant and breakfast and all kinds of delicious goodies at their paddock. We always take empty cooler bags with us to buy tasty mutton.
Travalia is perfectly located as a stopover between the Cape and Gauteng. The rooms are clean and tidy and well furnished. There were plenty of blankets - it gets cold in Three Sisters. The rooms each have a braai area and outdoor seating. Soft drinks and wine are for sale, and you can even book dinner or a barbecue. I can highly recommend Travalia and would stay here again.
We slept over at Travalia on the way back to Gauteng and we were grateful for a nice plate of food (which we should have ordered in advance) as well as a nice clean and comfortable bed. Will definitely stop there again!

My husband wants to grill every day. Wood, ice and meat are provided here. What more does one need after a long day on the road? We were there around 15:00 having already left Pretoria at 05:00. After a lazy braai it was lovely to take a hot shower. I had already turned on the air conditioning about an hour before that, as well as the electric blankets. It was lovely to come into the cozy room after the cold outside at the braai. The towels are the best ever!

We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist. Our room that we booked was exactly as per the photos on the website. Very beautiful and clean airconditioned room with a beautiful shower area. We enjoyed a delicious meal which we pre-ordered, in the dining room. We also visited the nearby farmstal. All in all an enjoyable and relaxing place and will definitely stay over again.

Beautiful clean place, well maintained with a nice big bathroom. The room is tidy, bedding clean and fresh. The beds sleep well. The grounds are very beautiful and well maintained. The location is very good and my dog was welcome! We met my sister at Travalia Guest Farm to give her our dog to look after while we left for Botswana. We drove from JHB and she from the Cape. So we were three adults in the room, but the reception was not prepared to separate the two bunk beds for us so that my sister did not have to crawl under another bed again and again to sit or sleep there. The room has coffee and tea making facilities, but not a small sink, that's quite inconvenient. One has to wash road food cups or used cups there in the bathroom sink.

Something that baffled me. We were two couples and would have liked two units next to each other. It was not clear during discussion that this would not be the case. We asked the friendly lady at reception if she could swap our unit with the one next door (everyone is the same) so we could stay next to each other. The lady simply refused. One would think that something like this should be very simple. I was amazed. I find it strange that when booking two rooms we were allocated "random" rooms. Very weird. Can say that the food (specifically the lamb and venison pie) was fantastic!

Just a pity they didn't get my 2nd payment through the website's proof of payment and I had to pay the outstanding amount first before I could find my place to stay. Luckily it was sorted out quickly the next day and my fees were refunded. So make sure you take your proof that everything has been paid with you!

We always sleep over here on our way to Cape Town from Pretoria. It has everything we need in a beautiful, clean and tidy environment. There is nothing nicer after a long day on the road than sitting by a fire with a Karoo lamb chop, a glass of wine and heavenly Karoo silence.
We have no complaints, the pre-arrival service is great. We were kept informed of available meals all the time and had a delicious meal that evening. Room is very clean and didn't need anything more.

Beautiful, peaceful place. Perfect for relaxing and winding down after a long drive. Reception by staff was very friendly and helpful! My room was very comfortable and had everything one could need. Enough coffee, sugar, milk - very important for me! Feel free to eat in their dining room, the food was excellent and very tasty! Something I would like to recommend is someone (or providing a trolley) to help carry luggage to the room, especially for a lady traveling alone. That was my only frustration.

Too expensive for what is offered. There are no utensils in the room. For everything in the fridge you have to pay extra. The bathroom has no place to hang clothes or towel why you are showering. Some equipment suggests that there has been very little inspection or maintenance done.
Friendly service, neat rooms. They even asked if they could light our fire for the barbecue. Braai was delicious!
The staff was unfriendly at reception, although the unit was clean it is overprized. The children could not swim, swimming pool small and overcrowded, you did not get the usually warm Karoo farm feeling.

The barbecue packs and side dishes that we ordered ahead of time are a great service, because we don't have to drive anything with us, everything is provided by Travalia. We have spent the night at Travalia numerous times on our way to the Cape. It remains the perfect overnight destination for us and the paddock is excellent. On the way back home, we stopped by there again, enjoyed the wonderful Karoo breakfast and for the last time bought trinkets and sweets for the long road. Travalia remains a winning place!

Has become our stopover of choice.
We have been using Travalia as a stopover for traveling from Gauteng to the Western Cape for several years now and will continue to do so. Location is excellent, service is perfection and we have no reason to change accommodation.
My husband and I, our children and friends have been spending the night at Travalia for years. We always eat and barbecue well, owners are always very hospitable, rooms clean and tidy and it is always very quiet, just what a tired ricer needs!
Convenient location, close to road, but safe. Apartment with everything you need, delicious cooked food brought to you. Playground for the children to burn off energy after hours on the road.

I booked a room with 2 single beds as a friend and I were on our way to Cape Town. Then got a room with a double bed. There was no other room available and we had to share the double bed. It spoiled the stay for us. Travalia is not to blame for this.

We could order barbecue suits for meat barbecue but on the day it rained terribly. And it was no problem for them. We got very nice ready-made meals for dinner. Very neat residential units and you hear no noise from the N1.

The peaceful feeling of a farm, as well as the well-kept grounds, are just the right medicine after a long journey. Add to that the choice of type of dinner and various meat dishes on offer and neat overnight facilities, then you have the ideal place to stay.

We've heard so often from friends that Travalia is a great place to stop after a long day on the road, and it really is an oasis in the Karoo - with a great shop. Our house was clean and tidy with everything you need. But perhaps consideration should be given to purchasing a larger fridge/freezer. In order to enjoy the tranquility to the fullest, one actually has to sleep over for a few days.
The receptionist was very polite and friendly. It immediately made us feel at home. The accommodation was neat. I would advise others to check out Travalia Guest Farm.

Upon arrival we were very kindly received. Our barbecue fire was lit for us at the time we requested and our tray supplies were prepared and brought to us as soon as the fire was ready. We had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the silence.

Everything was very neat and it's nice and spacious. We had a lot of mosquitoes just outside but luckily we were prepared. I was a little disappointed with the Carrot Joppies, one good track and the other not.

Travalia is my favorite place, it has been recently upgraded and the rooms are large and comfortably furnished. The bathroom shows good taste. All the linen and bathroom towels are good quality and nice to use.
Pleasant stay, friendly service. Even called to arrange for what we want for dinner. Restaurant or barbecue. Barbecue arrangements were perfect, everything done for us, just had to cook meat. Definitely recommended place to stay.

We were pleasantly surprised with Travalia Guest Farm. It's a lovely, neat, peaceful and friendly stopover on a Karoo farm just outside of Drie Susters, very well situated on the road from the north to the Cape. Our rooms were very neat. The reception was warm and friendly. We ate dinner there and can absolutely recommend the lamb shank, it was fragrant and so soft. We will definitely go again.

Travalia is a lovely stop on the way to your destination. It is homely, clean, quiet, with a restaurant on the premises and a farm stall down the road that is out of this world. It represents the heart and character of the Karoo which is not to be found anywhere else. Will be stopping there again in December and this time I am bringing my family along.

The accommodation was comfortable but lacked a microwave oven, as well as minimal cutlery if one wanted to eat a fruit or a sandwich. The braai facilities do not make sense if you have to bring cutlery.
The bedding was nice and clean, but the unit sub-standard. The oven in unit 20 was extremely dirty as was the fridge/freezer. The refrigerator was unplugged and a bag of ice had thawed. Upon opening the door, everything spilled out. Fridge also stank. The kettle was on and the dishes dirty. Shower needs a scrub. Rooms were acceptable with nice space. Food was delicious and staff friendly. Would go back again but would like to see the unit cleaner.
Travalia as a whole is very nice. Our room was not that nice though. Photos of Travalia show that places have grass in front, etc. We assumed all rooms are like that. Our room no5 did not have this and was a bit disappointing as our 2 year old wanted to play outside all the time. But overall it's a very nice place. I would recommend it to friends and family.

What a great sleepover with so much fresh air! The room is well equipped with a kettle and microwave. The bed is very comfy with ample pillows and blankets. There is hand lotion in the bathroom, as well as shampoo and conditioner and the shower is large. I relaxed on the little patio and read a book, and had the most delicious lamb shanks in the dining room. The hosts were welcoming.

This was our third stay at Travalia Guest Farmen, once again a pleasant experience. The advance contact, meal reservation and the friendly reception only add to the experience. The unit (again no. 21) was clean and well equipped. Nice parking under the trees. The dinner (lamb shank!) is always to be recommended. Service is brisk and friendly (the TV can just disappear from the restaurant!). Breakfast and various purchases at the Padstal are also recommended. All in all, a great experience after the long road and the endless number of giant trucks. The Travalia Guest Farm telephone number remains saved and we will spend the night there again.

Travalia was a very convenient stay with a lovely farm restaurant. The establishment had been renovated since our previous visit so the neat beautiful rooms were a surprise. The unit was perfectly clean and the bed even had an electric blanket which was lovely for the winter chills.

We found the hosts very warm and welcoming and our granddaughter was well entertained by the owner's children. The room was large enough and very warm and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed a delicious Karoo lamb dinner before heading to bed. The farm stall at the entrance served delicious breakfasts and the tasty homemade treats made the padkos trip to Cape Town a most tasty one! We will definitely stopover here in the future.

Once again excellent accommodation with excellent service. Really enjoyed eating at their restaurant. Even called me the morning I was supposed to check in to find out what time they could expect us and if I wanted to barbecue or eat at their restaurant. One aspect they could improve on is their white wine selection.

Friendly reception and very good service. However, I would like to recommend that they should perhaps consider putting at least a microwave oven in all their units. We arrived at Travalia early this time and wanted to watch the cricket on TV, you can only watch it from your bed, but the units only have curtains without lace curtains. So you can't open your curtains without people from outside being able to see you. A little awkward. Is that something they can consider?
The tranquility and generous reception immediately made us relax. The meal was delicious and good value for money. The particular unit, although clean and tidy, looks a bit "tired". Fortunately, this is the next unit to be upgraded. The already upgraded units definitely look better and more luxurious. The most important thing, however, is that a tired traveler can relax safely and peacefully here and take the long road again with new energy. A Karoo oasis!

It was our first overnight stay at Travalia on the way from Centurion to Cape Town. After many previous hit and miss places to stay overnight, we now found the place where we were kindly received, the room was large, neat and adequate, the dinner at the restaurant was tasty and our two Yorkies enjoyed the stay just as much. This will definitely be our first overnight choice from now on.

Not 5-star but very clean and neat. Nice to braai while you stay over. They supply meat, salad, bread and necessities like braai-spice, salt and pepper, plates, knives and forks at a minimal cost. You don't need anything. They light the fire for you when you request it and you can just braai and relax. They also have a liquor license. There is a restaurant for those who do not want to braai. It is not a game farm but it was nice to see a couple of bucks like springbuck and blesbuck from your braai-area. A very nice place to stay on your way to or from Cape Town.

Even though I've recommended this place to friends and family based the information on LekkeSlaap, this was our first time and we were more than surprised. The premises well apponited, beautiful, and far enough from the main road, so that traffic noise doesn't keep you up at night. Really friendly reception and professional. Our room was spacious, beautiful, spotless, excellent, and stylishly furnished. Just a pity we had to leave so early because the breakfast at Padstal is said to be awesome. On our way back we stopped at Padstal again. People, it's PADSTAL with capital letters! Don't forget to stop here!

Lovely sleep facilities. This is the second time we stayed over here on the way to Cape Town and it is really lovely. We usually start our holiday when we stop here ... with a delicious Karoo lamb chop on the fire and a good bottle of red wine! You will see us again.
Reception was quick and effective, and the room is very well equipped. Air conditioning was a nice surprise because it was freezing. Dinner was delicious and cosy with the fireplace in the room.

We spent the night here on our way back from Cape Town to Pretoria. We didn't arrive until late in the evening, and enjoyed dinner along the way. Finding Travalia was easy. The rooms were spacious, beautiful, clean and comfortably furnished. The temperature in the rooms was just right. Bedding was clean and cozy. We slept great. The stars in the Karoo were really very beautiful the night we stayed here. Will remember it forever. We had a visit from a friendly dog who came to say hello. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast at "Die Padstal" - a cute little shop with all kinds of trinkets. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would love to stay here again if given the chance. Security at the main gate may improve, one can only drive in and out.

Travalia was a nice place to spend the night on our journey from Johannesburg to Cape Town. I can definitely recommend it. Reception was friendly and welcoming, even though we only arrived at 21:00. The only thing that is worrying is the fact that there is no gate/security/control to give people access to Travalia. But is was a very nice place to stay.

If you've driven far, you don't want to struggle. You are looking for a clean, comfortable place with a pool and air conditioning and a clean bathroom. TV with DStv is a bonus! Food... look no further. They can make you a barbecue or you can eat in the restaurant. Basic coffee station is also convenient and there is a small fridge for the contents of your cool bag. Good value for money and very friendly, professional staff. I'm sorry that it was only an overnight stop, but glad that I can now recommend Travalia.

The outside units are at the same rate, but because it was already booked, my booking said room in guesthouse, so I did not know it would be a room in a house with other people. Very neat and clean with good service.
Accommodation was very comfortable, but we felt that the lady who was at the front desk, and later served dinner was not destined to be in the hospitality business. Not a smile - very sour. Dinner was a surprise. My husband ordered lamb curry and rice, and received a big spoon of curry and a spoon of rice with vegetables on the side! He did not enjoy that. Currry and rice is not served with vegetables. My lamb shank and vegetables was fine. Big bonus - it was easy to find off the freeway. Thanks.

Dinner that doesn't have to be left behind for any other place. Nice home cooking! The rooms are not 5-star, but nice and big with a lovely bed and enough bedding to last a minus 6 degree night outside. (At least the air conditioner also helped). The room was painfully neat and clean and the bathroom too. Breakfast at the paddock was a lovely experience! The peel paths, mutton tails and waste are of course a must and cannot be considered expenses. Breakfast was delicious! On your way out - walk past the tasting corner and see if you can grab a "Brandslang" at 7 o'clock in the morning. Here is the stop on the way!

Our car was able to park directly next to our cottage which is excellent. We enjoyed dinner there, the food was nice, but it was really expensive. Plate costs R95 pp. In the evaluation form, which was in the room, we made suggestions about how they could serve the plate of food better and more affordably. An extra vegetable/or more vegetables with a salad can really bring the price in line at least to some extent if they want to keep it at R95 pp. Then the pudding and drinks are added extra. We enjoyed breakfast the next morning at their paddock.

The room/bathroom was spotless and the bathroom is user friendly. The meals were well prepared and tasty. We have been using Travalia as an overnight stop on our way to other destinations for years and will continue to do so.

It was truly an oasis for us. It was a particularly hot day, but we were able to move in and relax right away. The two men at reception are really a great asset. They are extremely helpful and you can discuss all problems with them. Dinner was a highlight and extremely affordable. We will definitely come again!

The accommodation comprises 26 spacious rooms and is equipped with air-conditioning, a private bathroom and braai facilities. Guests can enjoy the swimming pool and play park. Sheep and cattle are farmed on the farm as well as a game namely Kudu, springbok, blesbok, and a variety of smaller antelope. They are wheelchair accessible.
Travalia Guest Farm also offers tasty meals in the form of braai packs, consisting of Karoo Lamb chops and sausage or traditional meals such as leg of lamb and chicken pie. Braai bread is also made for clientele and they also provide wood. Meals are to be arranged at an additional cost. Travalia Guest Farm is fully licensed and cool drinks, beer, wines and are available at the main reception. Breakfast and other farm produce are sold at the farm store for an additional cost.
