Ideal to break away and just to enjoy a restful chance. Wild animals roam freely on the premises. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend Umziki Chalets to anyone.
We used it as a halfway stayover on our way to St Lucia, but I can recommend it definitely for a longer stay because of the amenities and lovely surroundings.
Nature was picturesque.
Lovely place so close to so many things. You could relax and the children played and swam all the time. We can't wait to visit again.

Thatched chalets with a paraffin lamp for loadshedding and a broken door lock? Sounds like the perfect thriller of a night. The lock of the chalet's door was broken, after we locked it from the inside we could not unlock it again. There we sit in a thatched chalet with a paraffin lamp with my mother and little daughter. We had 4 hours of loadshedding through the night and had to turn on the paraffin lamp every now and then to make milk for my little girl. I had to jump out of the window and unlock the door from the outside, and we had to sleep with it open all night. I tried to call the lodge on all the numbers, but all the phones were on voicemail before 8 in the evening, I couldn't get hold of someone until the next day. The aircon didn't work either and stuck at 29 and 30 degrees, we were almost dead from the heat. I finally got hold of someone the next morning around 7am and reported the issues after which a lady arrived almost 2 hours later just before we were to pack up and drive and yelled at me and my mum that there was absolutely nothing wrong ! While she was shouting at us, a man arrived who, after walking away screaming, did confirm that the lock was broken and another key would not unlock it either and that the aircon remote was not working either. There really were so many open chalets if they had just looked at the places they would have seen No 2 had a lot of problems and could have put us in another one for sure. I didn't turn a blind eye to fear for our lives, just standing up and being yelled at was absolutely unnerving. I did report the lodge to the fire department and they can expect a visit because it really is a death trap. If I could give them a minus 5 stars I would. I only chose 1 star because the system requires it. I took some pictures and videos.

I had a wonderful one-night stay at Umziki Chalets all by myself! The staff were unobtrusive, the chalet was clean and had everything that I needed to prepare and enjoy my supper and breakfast. The birds were wonderful, a flock of green woodhoopoes kept me well entertained along with a couple of ground-scraper thrushes. The warthog and duiker dodged into the bush while the impala grazed peacefully. Recommended.
We got there late at night and drove early the next morning. Would love to spend more time there.
Good road to Umziki and not as far as some of the other places we visit. Relaxed atmosphere and it's great to be able to go on game drives. We saw many impalas and nyalas, warthogs, monkeys and baboons. On Nkonkoni's side we also saw ostriches, zebras and a hippopotamus in the distance. To my regret - no elephants. If you have time and quiet (i.e. no small children making noise) I think you will be able to enjoy a lot of the birdlife. We drove to Tembe Elephant Park one day but unfortunately did not see any elephants! We didn't try fishing at Lake Jozini this time, but hopefully next time. Children enjoyed Umziki's super-tube and pools and would have farmed there all day if we had let them! The chalet is decent and has a view of Lake Jozini in the distance. Good quality bedding and comfortable beds, as well as the convenience of a roof fan and air conditioner. Self-catering is a balance between kettle, microwave and fridge in room, as well as private braai area and the communal kitchen and bar area which has electrical appliances and crockery. Work surface area and pesky ants were the biggest challenge in the room but the kitchen is well equipped as well as the bar 'kitchen', so we went to make breakfast there in the morning, just carrying our things back and forth. I washed our things in dish in room, e.g. plastic cutlery that I took with me for my children, but left the larger dishes from the kitchen that we used there for the ladies who come to the side daily to help make. The kitchen and relaxation area is very convenient if a group wants to cook and socialize together. Furthermore, you can buy wood and ice every day for an extra fee and they also deliver it. We took a mosquito net with us for the baby's cot. We also have annoying mosquitoes at home (and the little ants that smell food a mile away), but were worried about malaria, so will try to take extra nets for the bigger kids in the future, or lots of Peaceful Sleep! We had a great stay and look forward to going again, and seeing and doing more. Think it would be fun to go with friends or family! Thanks to the friendly and helpful host team!
Place is very clean and tidy, rooms very spacious and well equipped, nice braai area and swimming pool. Service was very good, barely stopped when our wood and ice were delivered. Sorry we could only stay 1 night, will definitely stay longer next time.
There is nothing like the tranquility of the bushveld with game on your porch and nice boma. The rooms are nice and clean. Will stay there again. 10/10!
Very affordable, neat with a pleasant atmosphere. The fact that there are only 7 chalets, makes it very private.
