The rooms are clean and are cleaned daily. The breakfast included in the price was amazing. The restaurant is well priced, just a pity they are not open for the evening, but they were more than willing to help me get a restaurant booking in town.

Weltevreden is a jewel. Friendly staff, beautiful farm, big rooms, cosy lounge, great breakfast. The outside stairs can be hazardous when it rains and not everyone likes a bath and toilet inside the room.
The location can be seen as positive, or negative. The old historic buildings are beautiful and the unit we stayed in is very beautiful and romantic, but perhaps a bit cramped. The staff were very friendly and helpful and created a homely atmosphere. This restaurant was nice, the food was good, but not great. We can recommend the accommodation, but people should realize that it is quite expensive for what you get.
It's a stunning place. Breakfast was delicious, although the service was a bit slow.
From the first booking with TravelGround to overall friendliness and excellent service from everyone while staying at Weltevreden Retief Residence made it an unforgettable experience. I will recommend it to many more friends. Loved the historical value and input to preserve such a beautiful old homestead. Beautiful location in the heart of the winelands.

Weltevreden Retief Residence is a beautiful guest house near Stellenbosch. Unfortunately, there were a few small mistakes that one does not expect at this type of guest house. There were stains in the duvet cover in one room and the duvet was wrong on the bed in one of the other rooms. The breakfast took quite a long time, despite the fact that we had already mentioned the night before that we had to drive early to be at the airport on time. When we wanted to drive out of the gate we were stopped and the staff were confused about our payment because they claimed that a proof of payment was never sent to them. However, the payment took place months ago, so one can probably expect this type of admin to have been sorted out by the time one arrives at the accommodation. The extra delay cost us almost an extra day's rent for the rental car.
The place is beautiful and the service in general was friendly. I think under other circumstances I would be able to write a better review, but unfortunately not. When we arrived we were asked for a payment, even though we had already paid on the website. When they later confirmed that they had indeed been paid twice, the management let us know that they could only pay us back in 3 weeks. The morning we were to leave we were locked in our room because the door handle broke (apparently this had happened before as well). After a while of calling for help from the window, someone came to help us get out for breakfast. No one suggested that we could use another room to lock our luggage. When we asked after breakfast if we could use another room to shower etc. (because the door is broken open) the senior manager told the junior manager that this is not the truth, and that they have already fixed the door. I then had to go and show the junior manager that it had not been fixed, and that the handle had been taken off. After the junior manager confirmed with the senior manager that I was telling the truth, we were given access to another room for the last hour. Perhaps the broken door could not be foreseen, but the general attitude of senior management did not make things any better. What a beautiful place, and what a shame that our experience was so bad.
Accommodation was excellent, Faith's hospitality as well as breakfast was great. Will definitely come again and stay longer.
We had two wonderful days here in this luxury country house, near Stellenbosch.
