We will definitely come back again. Ideal for a romantic weekend away from everything and the city noise. Super neat, well furnished and the history of the farm is absolutely fascinating, the environment provides rest for the soul and the atmosphere creates the perfect stage for healing! Feel free to take a trip to the Labyrinth and leave your worries there. The two beautiful Jack Russels, Fudge and Jackie, who look after us and Chutney the cat who just wants to cuddle made it even more special. And of course we bathed in the tub and watched the stars!

What a fantastic two nights for our honeymoon! There was no water on the second day, but the owner kept us well informed and even though we couldn't use the jacuzzi, we will definitely be back for a second time. The accommodation is spacious, very unique and the silence is the most delicious! We enjoyed our host, the stone eater, so much. He made us feel so at home (I wanted to pack him up and take him home with me). We are very much looking forward to another visit there soon.
What an absolute gem of a place! We are just in love with the peacefulness, nature and cozy, rustic little cottage. The dogs provided endless entertainment and cuddles too The bathroom and shower are amazing, providing a nice and natural showering experience. Welcomed by a full of energy Jack Russel and the most comfortable furry cat - they were a sign of comfort and friendliness. The sunset is breathtaking, the adventurous shower between the rocks and my highlight the coal-heated bath under the evening stars while hubby sits and barbecues - a first for us and not the last either. Would like to visit the West Coast Grotjie again, maybe again next year for our wedding anniversary.

There was load shedding, not the fault of the hosts. However, it would have been nice if the little paraffin lamp had paraffin in it so we could have had some light.
Absolutely breathtaking! From sunrise to the sounds of nature into sunset followed by a blanket of stars. Mesmerising️.
The place is too small for all the rubbish: shells and stones and messages and ornaments. The animals didn't bother me, but someone allergic to cats would struggle with a resident cat. The instructions about cleaning with a looming fine are a bit harsh. I would have washed my dishes anyway, but it made me feel very unwelcome to have a threat hanging over my head.
The place is unique! Close enough to everything, far enough for silence and being alone, the most beautiful sunsets. Well equipped and tidy. I would highly recommend it.

It was one of the best weekends in a very long time. Had an amazing rest. All you hear is the sea and birds. In the evening it is quiet, you can only see the wealth of stars while you sit by the barbecue fire. Will definitely go there again.
Beautiful spot to get away from city life. Make sure you start the donkey boiler at least 3 hours before you intend to hop in!

Not to mention the cute little dog that came to greet us upon arrival. After that, his feline colleague took over and had a wonderful time with us. The friendliest animals there are. I just slept with an open sliding door so the Chutney could come crawling in on me in the middle of the night, and she did.

I almost want to keep it a secret. It was really special. Perfect Hokkie and the view is fabulous. Everything you need and more. Albert is the best human and he went above and beyond. He showed us such kindness.
Weskus Hokkie is exceptionally well kitted out for an easy stay in a truly special place. The peace and quiet is lovely and the shower is something extra special. The hot tub only gets to around body temperature so is more of a warm pool than a jacuzzi, but is lovely nonetheless.

Best little secret on the West Coast.
My husband and I had a great stay. Highlight was Chutney the "resident" cat who waited on us. Fudge and Jackie the jackrussells also came to meet and visit every day. The place is well furnished. Everything was pretty neat and clean. Bathroom is very nice! All I would add in the living area is a small table with 2 chairs, so that you can eat inside in the winter and have a place to put things down/prepare food. A corner lamp that gives soft light at night will also help, as the main roof light is very bright. Other than that, everything was perfect. We will definitely come again. The view is so beautiful, and we enjoyed the sound of the train (the Sishen railway line is a stone's throw away from the Hockey).
Overall we had a great experience. The place could provide some basics like sugar and some milk for a cuppa on arrival. We found the accommodation comfortable and clean, but was a little rough around the edges and in need of some maintenance. Other than that, we had an enjoyable stay.
It was the nicest place to stay if you like the quieter and secluded life. Amazing view, best value for money. It is not a luxurious 5 star place, but for what we expected it exceeded our wildest expectations.

For the couple seeking a rustic approach with the luxury of hot water, gas cooker and a fridge. Look no further. Very interesting bird life for the bird spotter and with the magnified sound of the sea drifting in of an evening, one forgets there is so called civilised life out there. The Sishan/Saldhana iron ore train is almost mesmerising as it snakes past. Place of no frills or fancy stuff just down to earth and comfortable.

It was not only breathtakingly beautiful, but the rest you get there is exactly what we needed. We will definitely go back to the Hockey again. One thing I can mention is that there is a cat that lives in the Hokkie, this did not bother us at all, because we love animals very much and cat was so loving. I only mention the cat because some people have cat allergies.
If you like a peaceful and private getaway, Weskus Hokkie is the right place for you. What's better than sitting next to the fire with a glass of bubbly in a hot water plunge pool and watching the sunset.

Will definitely be back. Such an amazing and a unique place. You feel at home right away when the resident cat, Chutney, welcomes you on arrival and worms her way into your heart. Beautiful and far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life, this place is perfect for a refreshing escape into the wilderness. Plenty awesome surf spots within 20min drive of the farm. Travelling here during the West Coast flower season is also a great experience. The donkey-fuelled hot tub and the bathroom built into the cave were highlights that just add to the experience. Already planning our next visit.
My partner and I went for a birthday weekend away and were not disappointed. The cottage is beautifully decorated and built into the rocks so that the shower has a spectacular outdoor 'cave' feel to it. There is a cat called Chutney who sleeps in the bathroom and there are two friendly Jack Russels, Fudge and Jacky who will come and visit. The view stretches unspoilt all the way to the sea and from the hokkie there is no other house in sight. The place has everything you need in the kitchen and it was very enjoyable to start the braai, crack open the champagne and enjoy the sunset from the heated outdoor hot tub. Other activities include visiting Lambert's Bay nearby, Elands Bay and exploring the ancient caves with rock art that are in the property. We could not have asked for a better weekend!

The Sishen Saldana train was a highlight every time. Would have liked to count the trucks, but alas too many. Chutney the cat looked after us well. We have now really recharged our batteries. We saw an "extra guest" in 1 of the caves after taking pictures. Unfortunately we did not use the Jacuzzi. Thank you so much for the gem we discovered.

It was our eighteenth wedding anniversary and we absolutely wanted to be private. That's what Weskus Hokkie has offered us. A bonus was the semi-outdoor shower between two rock walls and the outdoor tub / jacuzzi. However, if you are going to worry about snakes and scorpions all the time, beware. You stay in nature, so there is always a possibility that you may encounter one of the two. The sunsets over the sea, the sounds of nature and the tranquility were exactly what we were looking for. There are also plenty of private beaches within 2 minutes drive, but the water is icy! We really enjoyed it and can really recommend it to those looking for a getaway in nature.

Had a great stay and enjoyed every second of no internet, personal time and incredible views. One suggestion, take enough wood because the Jacuzzi works with a donkey and it uses a lot of wood! This cost was a bit unexpected, there was also no good quality coffee or any sugar, it was only found out on Saturday morning when we got up and wanted to make coffee. Luckily Lambertsbaai was close by.

I have wanted to come and stay at Weskus Hokkie for a while and I finally got the chance. It did not disappoint. It is beautifully situated, and a lot of time and care has been taken to make it a beautiful space. The view and surrounding area is amazing!

We really enjoyed West Coast Hockey! Enjoyed milk (and coffee for us) every morning with Chutney (the cat) on the porch. Fudge and Jackie, the Jack Russels, dropped in often; old Fudge has a lot of energy and can catch stones and bring them back all day. We already miss the animals and the Hockey and will be back soon.

Weskus Hokkie was a fantastic experience on the West Coast, very private nice outdoor experience. If any of you want to go away where nobody can find you, your choice needs to be Weskus Hokkie. You can enjoy the nature under the stars in private, Jacuzzi, outside shower let your hair down and just chill. Jeanette and I will definitely go back one day, Weskus Hokkie meets all requirements and standards for old or young, thank you for a great two days of fun. Definitely a 5 star rating all round.

The West Coast Hockey is very charming with its distinctive style and surrounding scenery and history. The unit has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bathroom is an experience as it does not have a full roof and you can look at the stars while showering in the cleft of the rocks. There are plenty of extra blankets for the cold days on the West Coast. Some of the oldest petroglyphs have been found on the farm and the farm has a very interesting history and everything is available for you to view. Walk the Labyrinth and feel the tranquility increase in your soul. The farm kitchen is just a stone's throw from your front porch and offers you delicious South African dishes at reasonable prices. You are totally surrounded by nature. Very private and peaceful. The outdoor hot tub is a must try. Sit outside in the hot tub with a glass of wine in hand while you admire the scenery. Then there is Chutney (the cat) and Fudge (the little dog) who entertain you every day. This is a very special place if you want to get away from it all. You want to clear your head and breathe new life into your veins. It is not meant for people who like luxury and modern things. It is for nature people who like bugs and things. I would like to recommend the West Coast Hockey to everyone who is looking for silence and wants to be close to nature.
Weskus Hokkie is a treat. Lovely views and the splash pool perfect for hot summer days. We were entertained by a family of owls in the krans just in front of the cottage. Crayfish season was also open so 10 out of 10 all round. Will be going to the Weskus Grotjie next year.

The west coast Hockey is absolutely heavenly, it was absolutely perfect. Albert and Carol are the heart of the place and are worth their weight in gold. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for rest and refreshment for your soul.
After months and months of waiting (we booked in January for a May visit due to Weskus Hokkie being so fully booked) we were so excited to see that the place fulfilled all our expectations and more! This place is truly magical. The pictures don't do it justice. You have to be there to appreciate the beauty! The accommodation is comfortable and well thought out with everything you need so you actually never need to travel through to Lamberts Bay (which is only a 10 min drive away). Just arrive with lots of wine, wood and food and you can escape into this perfect spot! The cottage is against a mountain and the shower is actually connected to the mountain so you shower with the stars above you! Walking the labyrinth built on the farm, reading in the sun, hiking up some mountains and watching dassies play amongst the most beautiful sunset are activities we did during our stay! I simply can't say enough amazing things about this incredible little spot. I almost don't want to say all these good things as I fear it may take me longer than 5 months next time to get in, but really, this place is such a find. The place was clean with anything you could need. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi and especially Chutney the cat. The scenery is stunning, you can even hear the waves, the tranquility, safety and everything. Loved the bathroom.
Weskus Hokkie gave us such a surprise, it was unbelievable to get away from the city en to become part of nature. The couple of days were one of our favourite parts of our 2 week long honeymoon. The accommodation was clean, the outside shower and Jacuzzi was also an unbelievable experience. 8 km outside of Lamberts Bay, makes the Weskus Hokkie private enough to feel alone but also close enough take a quick drive to Isabellas for a delicious dinner. The Hokkie is a must for anyone looking for a getaway.
It was the most stunning time. Wish it was closer. Loved the evenings and "nothingness" and silence. Time to rest and recharge. Chutney the cat was a welcome partner.

Everyone should experience the serenity of Weskus Hokkie - quiet, beautiful area and fully equipped in picture perfect house. The farm Jacuzzi is a winner! Sat in the Jacuzzi during the day and tried counting the long train's wagons, in the evening switched off all the lights and looked at the stars with a glass of wine in a bubble bath! You can feel your soul relax.
We had the privilege of spending 4 magical days in Weskus Hokkie. This place is just amazing! Peaceful, tranquil, rest, fantastic view and sunset, lovely outdoor Jacuzzi and the most friendly farm cat I've ever met, she joined me every afternoon for a nap. We already booked our next stay here - if you think the photos of this place is great - the reality is even better!

Very nice and relaxing, will definitely visit again. There are animals that come to visit and kieter just slept on the bed with us, didn't bother us at all, she was very sweet. Can recommend to anyone who just wants to get away and switch off.
It shows how little one needs to be happy. Breathtaking bathroom in the mountain rock; spacious outdoor Jacuzzi with views across the field to the sea, large fire pit, amazing variety of bird species including owls and kestrels. Ibex and hares in the field and welcome visits from the owner's dogs and cat. Lots to discover if you go for a walk, including turtles and lizards as well as the Bushman petroglyphs and signs of how the animals live here.
Our stay at Weskus Hokkie was a great break away from Cape Town. Lovely and peaceful, beautiful views, a great place to go and just relax. The internal/external bathroom is done really well with piping hot water. Lamberts Bay is about a 4 hour drive from Cape Town so be prepared for that. The outside bath was our only real disappointment, we chose Weskus Hokkie specifically for this unique feature. Sadly, although I tried 3 times to get the water hot with the donkey boiler, it was never more than slightly warm. The water has to be circulated through a donkey boiler so you have to have a relatively noisy pump running, subtracting from the peacefulness of the location. You have to supply your own wood and the boiler requires lots of it. You can purchase wood from the hosts if space is an issue. We had the boiler going for 2 to 4 hours but the lack of a pool cover and the chilly wind off the Atlantic resulted the water not been able to get warm enough to enjoy. The hosts recommended bubble bath but this does not work as an insulator, how about supplying a sheet of plastic or pool cover during the winter months.
The simplicity and tranquility of Weskus Hokkie makes a weekend feel like a week - you have to experience the bathroom!

What to say about 5 days of heaven on earth? Haven't experienced this kind of peace and relaxation for such a long time! Soothing sounds of countless birds and the ocean, and the stillness. It was an absolute privilege to be able to stay here. Thanks to the Citizens who share this precious piece of paradise with us all. We are obsessed with the place. The bathroom is unique and the location of the cottage with the most beautiful view makes every visit worthwhile. The Jacuzzi is a highlight and we took full advantage of it! We could freely walk around and look at the caves. Albert gave us valuable information about the excavations. West Coast Hockey is built on the rock ─ that's why we were able to experience an all-pervading peace. We hope to saddle up again soon... it's very special!
We had the most amazing stay at Weskus Hokkie. If you are looking for a place to escape from the rush of the city or people for that matter, this is the perfect place to stay at. It is clean, the bathroom is breathtaking and the view and sound of the ocean makes it unforgettable. The house has everything you need, from kitchen utensils to extra blankets for a worry-free stay. A big thanks for Albert (the owner) for everything, he really goes out of his way to assist and the effort he and his wife put into the place really shines through.

Wonderful mix of total comfort (power, hot water, microwave and everything needed) and the simplicity of an outdoor shower and cement Jacuzzi fueled by a donkey. The privacy, quiet and view is second to none. However, Lambertsbaai can be reached within a few minutes' drive. The detail in well-chosen stones, pieces of wood, succulents, tortoiseshells, shells, etc. work together to create a wonderful break from the normal.
We were kindly welcomed by Albert and Carol and we immediately felt at home. The cabin was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed and more. The decor was beautiful and the bathroom was heavenly. The nature and silence were breathtaking. Will definitely go there again.
The tranquility that surrounds the cabin was real soul food for our family! We relaxed too much and really enjoyed the Jacuzzi with the children (at least that thing gets really hot!). My husband's favorite aspect was the outdoor shower against the rocks, at least he really enjoyed it now! The places are fully equipped for everything you need, there really is everything! If you want to relax, this is the perfect place for you!

Stunning place. Very relaxing with great view. Sunset from the patio with a glass of wine were definitely worth it to experience. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we did not get the chance to meet them, because we left a day earlier.
Albert was very helpful and friendly. Accommodation is close enough to the town and restaurant. Very private and secluded. Cell phone reception is limited which makes it the best place if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and just spend time with your spouse. Chutney the farm cat is incredibly loving and came to visit for 2 nights to keep us company. Would definitely recommend West Coast Hockey if you just want to rest and relax. The outdoor Jacuzzi is definitely recommended.
Here you can shut down everything and everyone. The badgers, goats, birds and wind are your only visitors. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi immensely! There is plenty to see and do in the area if you fancy some action. Otherwise, it's the ideal place for bookworms and catching up on lost sleep. My boyfriend and I stayed in the West Coast Hokkie for 2 nights. When we arrived we were both pretty excited and were so surprised that it looked even better in person than on the internet. Albert was also very dear and every time we were out of the house for a bit of "exploring" we came back with folded blankets and everything neat and in its place. He also helped us out with the Jacuzzi. It was very romantic, neat, hidden from other people with the most beautiful view of the sea. The Jacuzzi was a winner as well as the shower. I can't describe how amazing the getaway was. It's a feel-good place and with the right person, it can be even more special. I will definitely recommend the West Coast Hockey to family and friends and will definitely come back again at some point.

My husband and I had a wonderful two night stay and we will definitely go back again! Lovely owners who were friendly and inviting! Beautiful surrounds and quirky accommodation that made for a memorable time away.
On arrival, Albert and his wife welcomed us kindly and showed us everything. They told us about the badgers that live there in the mountains. We went to the October Festival on Saturday where we felt welcome by everyone's friendliness and conviviality. We went back to the booth where Albert helped us get the Jacuzzi going. We really enjoyed just sitting outside and relaxing and watching the baby peregrine falcons that are in the mountains, and the badgers running around in the mountains. We then went to the caves on Sunday, which are amazing to see. So many shells are still lying around. This is definitely the right place if you want to get away from the busy life. I will definitely stay there again.
So natural and yet so luxurious. The farm is rich in history. Hope the caves yield interesting excavations. The view is fantastic and it's nice to walk on the farm. The Hokkie is neat and clean and has everything for self-catering. Sorry the weather didn't allow us to use the Jacuzzi. Here you can relax and recharge, no one bothering you. See you again in the future.
We enjoyed the quietness, the view (especially sunsets) and the spurfowl. It was ideal for seeing the wildflowers and to take a drive to West Coast National Park and Elands Bay.
Crazy, crazy, crazy about the place! The view is breathtaking. The bathroom is something really special. So nice barbecue and hanging out on the stoep. West Coast Hockey is balm for one's soul!
We had a wonderful walk on the farm and saw many ibex, played with the donkeys, gave hansies a bottle. The owners are very friendly and I'm glad they share their beautiful place with others.
Weskus Hokkie is situated on a farm 2 km from the beach and 8 km from the nearest town (Lamberts Bay). The only things to be heard whilst going to sleep at night are the wind, waves and sometimes the hoot of an owl in the distance. This is the perfect place to kick off your shoes, put up your feet and relax - be it in the jacuzzi, in the outdoor bath or shower, in the luxurious extra-length double bed or on a chair overlooking the farm and ocean that span out below. You are provided with incredible privacy and safety by your hosts, who are very hospitable, fun and friendly. We arrived on the weekend of a big storm and were provided with a heater to keep us warm - in amongst all the extra blankets. There are candles in abundance and we were also left with spare firewood and firelighters to use in the big braai-place outside. I highly recommend this place to anybody who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town life and those craving an awesome, quiet, simple time away. You will find yourself returning home feeling completely refreshed, wishing you had taken a few extra days off to soak in more of the awesome vibes that this place has to give. Thanks Albert and family for the awesome stay, we will definitely see you again in the not so distant future!

We had such a great time at Weskus Hokkie! To summarize: When we asked children what they liked the most: The Jacuzzi, the bath, the shower, the house, the donkeys, the books with information about Lambertsbaai and the farm itself. They now want to go there EVERY holiday, and so do we!

The house has a bedroom with a double bed. The kitchen is open-plan and equipped with cutlery and crockery, a kettle, a gas stove and a fridge. The bathroom is outside and as it has no roof it has a great view of the stars at night. The bathroom is built between 2 rock formations and there is a shower as well as a bath.
Guests are to please bring their own firewood. If a couple books at Weskus Hokkie there is no space for children, as the establishment can only accommodate 2 persons.
Parking is available about 30 m from the house and there is a path that leads to it. Guests are welcome to explore the caves and rock art on the premises as well as take a walk through the labyrinth.
Guests are to please use the water and electricity with respect to nature and the farm. Weskus Hokkie also asks that the guest do not litter on the farm or in nature and please do not use the furniture or bedding without respect. There are lanterns for the candle 's in the unit. Please do not put the candles on the rocks.
Weskus Hokkie tries to ambience the nature and canopy of stars and farm life. Please look after our nature with love and respect.
