It was amazing dealing with Helanie, from the word go, she met me at the correct time, even had a bag of wood and a bag of ice on the ready, and everything was clean and presentable. Was a warm experience even in the middle of winter, will recommend it to everyone going forward, A+++ will definitely be back!
The house is full of surprising nooks and crannies with a delicious outdoor barbecue. Everything you need is there.

The word lodge is a bit misleading because it's actually more backpacker-type accommodation. Tiny kitchen, not equipped at all for loadshedding. You share bathrooms and other facilities with other guests. The pillows on the beds have seen better days. There not loadshedding light bulbs in all the rooms. The ones that were there were "mush". Wifi signal was also very weak. Hostess was friendly and helpful. If you are looking for cheap accommodation and expect no luxuries, White Shark is the right place for you. It 100% met our need, but I wouldn't want to stay longer than 2 days.

Just wasn't aware that we would share the accommodation with another person. The chimney was not working well, all the smoke went into the house. House was well equipped. Enjoyed our stay!
You advertise the place as a lodge. It also says so on the front of the house. However, it is a backpacker principle where you get a room and have to share everything else, kitchen, bathroom, etc. The advertisement is misleading and embarrassing for me when we have to spend the night there with our friends. The bedding and towels smell of smoke. The other person in the house sat watching TV at 5:00 in the morning, with the sound on because it was disturbing to the rest of the guests. The place is not in good condition, couches in living room are dirty. Walls dirty in places. The light in the bathroom didn't work when we got back from the wedding at 10pm. Disappointed! I have always used websites for our stay planning but this is a disappointment.

We really enjoyed our time there. Especially the tranquility. You could go for a nice walk along the sea. The location just perfect.
Wonderful service, beautiful place and people.
It is a wonderfully quiet section by the sea and from there walkers can walk in different directions. We didn't feel unsafe anywhere when we went for a walk. Vehicles park outside in front of the lodge, but we weren't worried about that. The facilities (kitchen and 2 bathrooms) are shared if other people are also booked in the lodge. Everything was very neat, clean and comfortable and we had a wonderful stay and slept.
The hiking trails are safe. The sea is unfortunately not swimming friendly, there are rocks.
White shark is more suitable for younger people and students, or for a large group of friends. I will e.g. don't necessarily take my girlfriend there unless it's just for a 'stopover' as bathrooms are shared. I would definitely go again on my own or with a group of friends. I must draw attention to the fact that the address is wrongly listed as no. 11 Hill st. was sent to me. The correct address is no. 4 Hill st. So I had to drive around a bit and search. But otherwise service and communication was very good.

Was there for weekend with our family. Everything you need.
I planned my alone time getaway a couple of month's ago and as you do, everything is online. Not being sure about places I booked two nights at White Shark Lodge and two nights elsewhere in Gansbaai. What a very pleasant surprise when I booked in at White Shark Lodge! On the rocks, the most amazing view, the most amazing place, so calming. I drove past the second place I had booked at and just from the outside, big walls all around etc. I immediately asked Landi if I can stay two more nights at White Shark Lodge. I didn't even mind losing the money from the other place. I would suggest that a bigger group of friends book out the place as it has an indoor braai, pool table ─ family vibes. Amazing.
Only the wind was unpleasant. Furthermore, my stay was very pleasant and I will go again. The rooms do not have a sea view, but the lounge has a beautiful sea view. I spent a lot of time on the sofa in front of the lounge window. I did shorten my 3 night stay to just 2 due to the weather.
The place needs a very big spring clean, the curtains and the ceilings in the bedrooms have mold on it, the indoor braai looks like it's about to fall apart and needs allot of attention. The couches in the braai area need to be steamed cleaned and the extractor fan in the bathroom need a desperate clean. The house would be great if looked after properly and cleaned properly.
Everything is old, and dirty and falling apart. Bed was terrible. The people were very nice though. But the place either needs a serious revamp, or they should cut their prices in half to justify. Much better options for the same price.
If it can have self bathroom, it will be better.

This was our third time staying here. It's always so nice and peaceful and the best view you can get.
We were only there for a short time, but had a very pleasant experience. Good location and comfortable.
Had to take a cold shower in the morning, shower. The shower drain was clogged. We had to move in and out through the back kitchen door. They charge guesthouse prices but one receives a backpacker experience. View is very nice but can only see view from living room which has to share with everyone.
A little coffee and a piece of biscuit early in the morning would be nice.
